I also have an E Flite Blade SR, and all of my flights seem to end in a similar fashion.. I am able to hover pretty well on my Real flight 5.0 sim, even the more advanced helis on Real flight seem to be easy compared to My Blade SR. but when I get on the actual copter, it goes everywhere (Kinda like in the video).. I have been working on getting the trim set for a hands off hover, but that seems to be pretty elusive for me.. My most recent flight resulted in a very bent tail boom, destroyed rear rotor and new blades are in order.. are there any recommendations as to my next step.. I have been flying RC planes for over 30 years, but want to get into helis so I can fly at home, dont get to go to the field as much as I used to.. should I get a Coax, learn to fly that then go back to the Blade SR?

I have been looking at the new coax that has been listed on the Hobby people web site, Seems like it might be just what the doctor ordered.

P.S. are there any plastic blades that I could get for the SR, seems that I am able to destroy the wooden blades in about 3 - 5 mins or so, and at +/- $13 a pair, gets expensive very quickly!

I bought the SR and I feel that I wasted my money too. The tail motor burned out after onlyt 4 or 5 flights and took out the EMC! It flys terrible. The tail boom gets bent a lot! The best thing to do is throw it in the trash and get something else that really flys.

Hi,

Trust me....get the Blade mCX2 (I have the mCX2 s300).

You can fly it in your living room and get use to all the different movements a Heli can do in simple flight......plus there's none of the set up worries of the other single blades.

I have the s300, CX3, mSR and SR. Needless to say, the s300 is the only one I can still fly (the CX3 didn't crash, but it's too big for the living room and others have slight damage...feathering shaft and landing skid).

I just pulled out my s300 yesterday after months and it's like I never put it away!:)

tell me about it..  I just finished replacing the Tail boom on my SR, and on the first flight bent another one..  a couple of guys at the local hobby shop told me that the Blade SR is a bad flying heli..  and the even sell them, and are Suggesting that I buy the Blade 120SR fixed pitch, then going to a blade 300 after that..

is the mCX2 a FP or CP heli..  total beginner here, although I can hover in Real Flight 5 pretty well, even when using the more responsive 3d Models in the program.. 

I am wanting to get good enough to fly in my back yard, as I live in about 2 acres on a lake, and dont get to go to the flying field much due to having to take care of my mother who has suffered a stroke..  and no, I cant fly a float plane in the back yard, too many cattails and reeds at the shoreline..  Sigh..  as I do have a BUSA Northstar that would love to fly here!!  ;)

I'm not recommending the SR at all for a beginner for the same reasons I gave above , just stating what I went through. I also have room outside, but these are small helis and arnt fit for it. The SR can, but unless your ready...it will .... Well you know!

The mCX2 let's you get use to TRUE 3D flying right out of the box. Of all the Blades I bought , only this one did that.

I haven't been around for a while, but I'm kind of surprised they're even still making the SR. Noone knew what to make of it when it was new and reception once people started to get their hands on it was overwhelmingly negative. The thing is supposed to bridge the gap between FP and CP but apparently just flies horribly and doesn't really work as a learning tool at all.

I still feel the way to go if you really want to get into CP is to just put in a ton of hours on a sim until you feel confident enough to try with a real one and then just buy a nice, capable CP heli. Tune it down a bit an build some training gear and you're pretty much set.

mcx2...isn't that a coaxial? Maybe I read that wrong but Idon't think the mcx2 is the heli that can do true 3D. Isn't it the mcpx that can do 3D?
Anyway....if you are good on the sim and your goal is to fly outdoors...I think you would get bored real fast with a coaxial heli. To me...just an opinion...the sim will accomplish the same goal as a coaxial(muscle memory....learning different orientations, etc)...unless you just want something to putt around with in the house. But if you are serious about learning to fly cp heli's outdoors....skip the coaxial.
