Help with setup, please?

A few years ago my family got together to buy my dad a remote controlled helicopter. We wanted to get him something good, so I went online and shopped around. I bought him the Heli-Max Kinetic .50 ARF Nitro Heli. What I didn't realize as a noobie was that for $400 we were getting a frame, not a complete piece.
It has since sadly become a bit of a joke with our family. Dad's incomplete gift. A sad frame with no engine.
I truly intend to finish this for him, however. The only thing is, I'm still a noobie and need to be sure what I'm getting him will work.
I've looked online at some setups and tried to compile something similar. Below is what I've got so far.
Would this work well for him? Any suggestions to make it a more stable flight for a noobie at the controls?

I'd run a 5 cell pack, 9252's instead of 9251's and an Align muffler. But yes, that setup will work.

If you go 5 cell you'll need a voltage drop down for your tail rotor servo

I'm not sure what a voltage drop is. Any particular model you could recommend so I can familiarize myself?<div></div><div>Thanks so much :)

so no one knows nitro engines or are proficient at flying a heli? sounds like alot of dissapointment imho, you and your dad will be better off crawling before walking but hey everyone has to start somewhere i guess.

Make sure you putting training gear on that heli before trying to learn to hover. Ilearned on a 50 size nitro and the training gear made it A LOT easier.

just breaking that nitro in and getting it to run correctly i think they will run into problems your going to want a expierienced person along for the ride on this 1 just my .02!

some people like training gears some dont i flew some for 2 flights and removed em !
