Getting first heli
 

I am working a trade for about 450 dollars worth of my camera equipment. The guy is trading me a raptor 30 some nitro fuel and remote servos gyros being my first heli is this worth at least 450 I will add pics of it here thanks for any info

I say it looks in the $300 range can't tell what servos are on controls, tail looks like futaba 9254 so that's good. I do know from experience don't run a standard cheap servo with 40 oz torque with plastic gears. Get a metal gear servos with at least 80 oz torque. I ran cheap servos in mine and one stripped in about a month. Also if your first helie get you some sim practice if can, I would recommend real fight I had that was really good for helie flying but not much variety, pheniox as a lot of helicopters but I think it's lot harder to fly them on Phoenix views are not as good as real flight just my opinion. Also what I did when I was learning was get you some wooden dowel roods and some balls and make an x for a training gear. Trust me take it slow at first hover with gear on low on smooth service if can cause grass will crab you and pavement you can slide on and not tip over that's training gear of course. Sorry to ramble on but I know from experience it's hard to teach your self to fly helicopters but you can do it just don't be an idiot and jump in and expect to be flying circles in a few days baby steps please and remember to fly in a safe area and be safe, helicopters are fun and welcome

I looked at the pictures provided and noticed the header tank is mounted upside down. If you do acquire this machine don't fly it in this configuration. Now moving on to the trade you mentioned. Used camera gear and used RC gear never retain value. Standard rule is 60% off retail price and if the other party won't accept this walk away. The Raptor 30 and the Airtronics unit are worth any where between $300 and $250 dollars. I recently purchased a ARF Raptor Titan less radio for $300 dollars and this helicopter was never flown just assembled.

Good eye flycatch it's definitely upside down it looks like it's been flown that way wow. I just bought a titian x arf for $250 I still need motor and one more servo can't wait to smell that nitro burning again��

I haven't been on in a while but I thought I would give my 2 cents. I traded two RC buggies for my first helicopter(Raptor 50). I didn't really care about value for value because I was wanting a heli and the buggies never got used. Poison is right on in saying to make some landing gear because it helps big time when learning. I learned on a Raptor and enjoyed every minute....TAKE baby steps....don't try to do to much to quickly because for a first heli that size heli is a little intimidating especially when that engine gets going. I will say...once you hover it a few times it becomes very easy to hover. The key for me was getting it about 5 feet off the ground quickly then it is pretty stable.....if you try to go 1 or 2 feet off the ground you'll be all over the place. Good luck! Fly safe...
