webra 35 competition engine problems

I'm a newbie. I have a Raptor 30 V2. I've run 6 gallons of fuel so far on the motor mostly hovering with no crashes. The Webra 35 is driving me abit insane as needle valve setting seem to change. One time it's rich and I lean it out ,,runs great and the next tank it runs like crap again. The backplate is cool to the touch after landing. Today I had it leaned out to about 3/4 to 7/8th of a turn out from closed. Still lots of smoke and ran great ,,next tank was rich and wouldn't hover till full stick. When running well it has great power but isn't consistent. I run cool power 15% and have used new OS#8 plugs. I also at the advice of Horizon Hobbies RTV'd the Oring area of the carb[also cleaned it] as they said they have had problems there and it would cause the symptoms I described. They also said they run 15 and 30% nitro with no problems on this motor.
I want to learn to fly and just need a reliable motor. I know OS is the one in that department but I would like to make this little powerhouse work well.
Any thoughts would be great.

:D I have had simular problems with my Webra 35. It will drive you totally crazy. [X(]

I removed my tank, replaced all my fuel lines, tightened all bolts.... still no improvement. [:o]

I finally went from a OS #8 to a Enya #3 plug. I hovered one complete tank today and had NO PROBLEMS. I will fly tomorrow and will know more after that. I will post here any info I have.

Success!!!!!!! I figured out my problem. I was running way to rich on both high and low needle valves.
High needle valve is now about 3/4's of 1 full turn out and I cranked in my low speed 1 full turn in. Lot's of smoke still but no bogging,,idles good and no wup wup wup on deceleration. I did however bypass the header tank for now and will hook it up next time. I did a total of 4 tanks of hovering today. 2 in the morning and got it running great and again mid afternoon. I didn't have to touch a thing and it ran like a top. This thing makes impressive power and can really yank 6 lbs of Raptor with ease.

Hey turboomni,

Congrats ! I went out to fly today, but the wind was just too high. [&o] 25mph+ gusts. So we all sat around and told war stories. ;)

I am glad to see your problem cured. I hope mine is also. Will know on the next nice day.
