Load bearing chopper help

Hello all, I am looking for a helicopter to use a a video capture platform to record the action of my hobby (airsoft) and I need to know what kind of heli I need to support the extra weight of the wireless camera and transmitter.

Any assistance would be apreciated.

get a 'minicam'. any helicopter will be able to take another 50 grams-ish

Those mini-cams on ebay look like total trash from what I can see. Tiny picture and lousy quality, and the radio works on Line of Sight only from what I hear.

The real quality mini cams will cost you $200 and up.

Of course, the best option is still to simply strap a small camcorder to the belly of the helicopter and record directly to a tape. Thats heavier though and requires a .40 sizer or up pretty much. But if you want any sort of reliably decent footage, the bigger the helicopter, the better, since they'll be more stable and will lift the weight better.

Lots and lots about fix and rotory wing in flight video. Look for RCAPA a whole organization of professionals at this.

thanks a lot guys, I was worried about adding even a little weight to a heli, because of ballance issues and the like.

thanks for the link Major

minicams are not rubbish. there is a really good one you can get, that does picture and sound, then there is another one for about £400 that does night vision (infra red) honest!

They are GARBAGE compared to a real camera. When you get footage like this from a wireless you let me know ;)

Unfortunately thats not mine but I hope to buy one! It is an electric Joker 2 and can easily carry 5 lbs or more. It also has a bent tail so you can bring her in a "little off" and not tear up the tail.

Here it is carrying 2 bags of flour:

my 2 cents...

I have an "eyecam" that I received with my Draganflyer IV 2 years ago. It is OK depending on your application. If you are looking for super high quality video, you have to go with the more expensive cams. You get what you pay for applies here...

Line of site can be an issue as well.

I play airsoft as well... I think the fuzziness of battle (cheaper cam) might look cool every now and then ...

anyway ........ spend the bux and get a nicey cam!

for pro AP work, you just can't beat a maxi joker 2. look at this guy's website: http://gravityshots.com/

p.s. yes, it's expensive but if you start your own AP business, the equipment is a writeoff.
