Camera on a BCX-CP, is it possible?
 

Its a strange question realy. I was talking to a friend and he said the weight for the micro camera/transmitter is too much. Im just wondering if hes right or not. It would be interesting to know and why. Multiple choices are on, and if you say yes, could you please give me a url for the camera model? THX, Laterz, will check this often!

I love it when questions have too many variables to actually know for sure.

I have to say yes its possible (at least on the CP), because i have not seen it proven otherwise yet.

The weight of the equipment and the lift of the heli are really the main factors (conditions also matter).
Increase lift: stronger motor, more volts, better esc, faster headspeed, larger blade diameter, more pitch.
Decrease weight: buy/build small cameras, small transmitters and batteries or a circuit to tap into flight battery pack. Strip excess weight from cameras circuits and heli, cut down useless stuff, etc...

In fact i think the CX could do it too...

Without modifications, I think the Blade CX would be a marginal camera platform, at best. I've tried lifting light 1-2 oz things with it, and that always puts the 4-in-1 in the red (it has an indicator light which shows when the 4-in-1 is being overloaded).

Now, that said, I think if you removed the tail boom and body, you might save enough weight to be able to lift one of those little wireless spy-cam things without blowing your 4-in-1.

Altitude is also a factor; I live at 5000 feet above sea level. At sea level, you may have better luck lifting things.

I would think either one would carry a micro cam, it only weighs 66 grams with the battery, probably about 75 grams by the time you build something to hold it on there. I've never tried it on my Hummingbird (fixed pitch), but I'm sure it would carry it no problem.

That 9v there probably is the heaviest part of the setup. Since the heli already carries a battery, might as well use that. Just build (or have someone build) a circuit that regulates the voltage from the main pack to 9v to a 9v plug and you are set. Or make it go straight to (what looks like) the mono plug, eliminating a little extra wire and connector weight.

Get 3 CR2032 flat round lithium batteries and connect them in a series. This will give you 9 volts without the weight.

My dad has a masters in electronics, and he developed an in-cockpit camera for a military jet! I bet he could help, but the only problem. I dont know whiuch camera to get! give me a model please!

I've seen some videos shot from a BCP toting a camera.... The only problem here is that I don't know what camera (or general setup) the owner of the BCP used.
