Crashed , Now What !
 

Hi Guys , I had my first crash this weekend since learning to fly choppers about 5 months now.

I can hover at various heights , can hover facing 9 0' clock , 3 o' clock , can do forward flights , forward flight front left and right (diagonal) , forward flight parallel to the left and right.

I cannot do a circle or figure of 8 as yet.I tried forward flight and turned the chopper towards me , it came towards me , then I accidently hovered it towards me , paniced and tilted it to my right , chopper came down , small crash , tail boom , fins and blades gone.

My questions are " Do I learn to hover facing me first ( nose to me ) or do I learn circles around me or circles in front of me of figure of 8's.

Helifever suggests , to do circles around ones self before hovering nose towards the pilot , does this mean I must turn around with the chopper as it goes around me.

If it were me I would practice the nose in hovering. It's not really that hard. I saw on a post here the simplest way to learn. Can't remember which post it was but I will try to pass the info on to you. As the heli is facing you just copy what you see the heli doing with your inputs on your Tx. Meaning that if the heli drifts to your right give it right cyclic. Vice versa with the left. Also if the heli moves toward you give it back cyclic. Try to picture what I am saying and you'll get it. Keep in mind that I would log many flights on the sim before doing it for real. Just seems to me that that is your next step.

I have not trained on any simulator as yet . I will try to aquire one , maybe FMS

I bought G2 to learn to hover nose in. Paid for itself many times over. I also learned to fly inverted and do all kinds of neat aerobatics on it. Way cheaper than wrecking a heli and it is a great sim!

I've flown a heli on both FMS and G2.... FMS is pretty good with fixed wing stuff... but with heli's, the size of the models is too slow.... I like G2 much better...

Ok FMS isn't the best sim but its the best priced, you cannot argue with its value for money factor.

You got that right.... Lately I've been flying the 3d heli in FMS... Not bad... You can fly inverted.. and do some pretty cool tricks....

I'm still waiting for my copy of G2... I bought it from some guy here on RCU... Damn guy stiffed me so far....

Has anyone tried the G2 download of the Raptor 30 from raptortechnique.com? Is it pretty close to the real thing? I downloaded that and use that as my main chopper in the sim.
