Hover Help

Hello,

I have been wanting to get into RC helicopters since I was a kid. I am now in the position to be able to do it. I have been flying planes and have been toying around with helis on G2 and have gotten pretty good at it. I can hover the helis and am almost at the point where I can do sideways hovers. For some reason I cannot hover the trainer to save my life, really getting aggrivating. I can get the regular Impala off the ground in no time except the trainer, no idea.

Does anyone have any pointers on where to go after hovering and any tips for how to get really good at it, I just read today how to put heading hold (HH) on so that may help me a lot but other than that any thoughts?

Mike, when I first tried the Impala trainer I thought it was on drugs, or that I should be! It requires "small" corrections on the cyclic, when you see it going (eg) left apply a little right but be ready to apply some left to make up for the amount you over corrected! I can now (after 8 weeks) hover any of the G2 helis in any of the directions. I've just bought a Feda/Hummingbird which is a bit like flying the "Sean Picollo" model you can download or the 0.049 Finch thingo on G2. It's going great but only because of the practice on G2. Also what stick grip are you using ? I was a thumb man until I got into helis and now I pinch using the thumb and forefinger, makes a difference too.

Good luck !

I didn't like a lot of the helis on there but the raptors are pretty good. I haven't played with the heading hold on it but I think I need to. I do all sorts of aerobatics with it though. Lots of fun and helps on the real heli.
