I have had a T-Maxx for a while and I recently sold it becasue of all the problems I had with it. Do helicopters have a lots of problems with them like, does the engine ever die, or do you need to keep buying a certain part. My T-MAXX had these problems and more. Please tell me what are some problems and if I should buy the software program to teach myself how to fly a heli. THanks

Sim is the way to go, or if you have someone who can teach you. But either way the sim will give you the basics.

I'm just getting into Helis and got Realflight G2 simulator. It's my only investment so far and I'm already having fun, learning heli basics, and only spent $200 so far. I know I have much more to spend and even more to learn but I'm taking my time...after all, it IS a hobby and doesn't happen overnight. When I got into Helis years ago when I was a teenager, I rushed into it, spent a lot of money and got discouraged. Now I'm taking my time and getting all the right stuff. Good luck.

Just moved on to step #2....got a Futaba 9CHF radio. I plan on plugging it into the G2 Sim some time this week. Am I crazy for going this route...Sim...Radio....Heli?

Hobbywannabe,

Did you get the sim yet?

Don't use the 9c with the sim, you'll fry it.

Fry?

Why cant I use the 9CHF with G2?

Helis do have parts that wear, but I think a car eats them more due to steering problems and the way they get trashed. If you crash a heli, it gets expensive quick. If you are going to play the game, it will cost. A good sim can help reduce the cost and teach you the basics. It is a lot of fun though.
