RE: where to get a co-plot
You Blade CP or CP Pro is a CCPM heli so you would have to
use the FS8 version of the FMA co-pilot. The FS8 has a built in FM receiver plus all the mixing required for CCPM. It costs about $105 bucks. Its a tiny bit heavier than the CPD4 co-pilot but since you have to remove your stock receiver it will probably all even out. Some guys think you have to have a PCM receiver in a heli but I've been running an FM receiver (Futaba) for a year and I've never had any glitch's or any other problems. I prefer FM.... Here's thier web site: http://www.fmadirect.com/ Good Luck, Bob |
RE: where to get a co-plot
Bob,
How difficult is the FS8 to set up, and in your opinion, how well does it work? I also do most of my flying indoors, and the description from fma's website says that it reads the difference in IR signature between the earth and the atmosphere. I'm assuming that means it won't work well indoors? I'm really interested in getting one of these, but I'd rather not drop the hundred plus bucks unless it works very well. |
RE: where to get a co-plot
The way the FMA co-pilot works is like...magic. That's
how I felt about it the first time I flew with it.. That being said, they are very, very easy to set up IF you follow the instructions to the letter. They come with a very good manual that shows each step with photo's. NO, I would not try to fly the co-pilot heli in the house unless you turn OFF the co-pilot. It would "see" every thing in the room and try to avoid it and go berserk. I turn mine off in the house... If you see a good deal on a Heli-Max MX400 Pro you might consider getting one. It works with the cheaper CPD4 co-pilot because it is Mccpm and not Eccpm like the Blade Cp. Anyhow...Happy Hoving.. Bob |
RE: where to get a co-plot
Thank you very much for the information and help! Looks like there's a co-pilot in my future... : )

RE: where to get a co-plot
Go with the folks at KA Planes, they are very helpful and provide excellent customer service. I bought my CPD4 from them but not my Falcon 3D. At the time when the Falcon was purchased I was not aware of KA Planes. Any way, they have really gone above and beyond my expectations to help me as a newbie to heli's. We need to support stores like this so they will be here in the future. Just my 2 cents worth.

[link=http://www.ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/933]Here[/link] is a link to the FMA co-pilot (the deluxe version) on KA's website. I believe this is the one I'd need for my Honey Bee King II.

SuperBee
Yep, that would be the one....excellent choice. And remember, they hold thier value really good. If you decide it not for you, (not likely to happen), you can sell it here on RCU and recover nearly all your investment. Let us know how it goes.... AB |
RE: where to get a co-plot
Am I correct in thinking that the Honey Bee FP could use the CDP4, if it was modified to have a Heading Hold Gyro (such as the Telebee)?
Thanks! |
