what is a futabra and what is a servo. do i need training to fly a Thunder Tiger Raptor 30?

I think you either mean a 'Futura' or a 'Futaba', probably the Futaba, that is a make, a brand name, the company that makes radio gear.

If you really don't know what a servo is, then you seriously need help from an experienced flyer in person. I think you should research this hobby a little bit more before asking very simple questions. You will also struggle an awful lot with building the heli on your own. The manual is not very good for a total beginner and previous experience is very helpful so at least you know what goes where.

YES , if you can't find out what a servo is, it is likely you will not know how to setup the pitch/throttle curves. You could end up seriously hurting yourself if you try it by yourself. They are not toys. Buy a few books on the hobby and learn before you do anything else. You will have to know alot more definitions other than 'servo' to be able to successfully fly these things. I spent about 10 months just researching before I got mine. And then when I did get it, I knew what things were and had a good understanding of how they work.

When I say you need training, I mean just someone who can walk you through the normal procedures and make sure it is all safe for you to fly. There are very experienced flyers who offer helicopter lessons but these are often very expensive and you could get just as good advice from a club member.Find a club. It is possible to do it all without help, but for a complete beginner it is advised to seek help from someone who knows the hobby well.
