Blade pitch differences???
 

Hi all,
I am setting up a Venture and was checking the pitch angle on the blades. I'm using a Helimax guage. The pitch angle on one blade is 2 or 3 degrees different then the other blade. The swashplate is level all around at 50% collective and the seesaw arms, etc are parallel. I did add some sub trim in the three ccpm servos to ensure the servo arms were straight, but no more than maybe 10 clicks. Do I physically remove one of the ball links off of one of the blades and adjust it so both blade pitch angles match? If so, do I remove the ball link that connects directly to the blade holder? Just wanted to make sure I do it right. The manual doesn't really explain it other than to say they should be close to matching. Thanks,

i don't know the configuration of a venture head but you will have to adjust one of the ball links to make the blade pitch equal. just as important, you should have a linear pitch curve in your radio (0,25,50,75,100) when you start, and set your pitch at midstick to whatever you plan to use in flight--either 0 degrees for hovering at 3/4 or 5-6 degrees for hovering at midstick. then adjust the blades so they're equal at your selected pitch and go into your curve to adjust the endpoints.

you will have to do the fine adj, by eye, after you fire it up.

It's called "tracking", where both blades rotate on the same pitch/plane/track.

run it up at 0 pitch and eye ball parrell to the blades, it helps if you have one marked in some way so you can tell them apart.

both blades should track the same, usually you will raise the lower blade to make them track the same.

Yes, pop the ball link off the lower blade and adj., usually shorter is more pitch.

Thanks for the replies... I think I have everything set up correctly so I'll attempt a hover this weekend. I matched the blades pitch, seesaw arms are parallel, pitch curve is 0, 5, 9, servo arms are all 90 degrees to the control rods, ball links smooth/free moving, throttle at 50% = 5 degrees collective, swashplate is level, gyro direction is correct...I think I'm ready???

If possible you should have a more experienced heli pilot help you get started. Get on the buddy box for the first couple of flights. The heli can get away from you real quick. If you are using training gear you will need more pitch to hover than without the gears since they are heavy. I have my shuttle set up with -4,+7,+9. This configuration seems to work well for me.
