slow startup???

hello everyone, i have just 1 simple question. when you hit the idle-up switch and the helis rotor starts turning ive seen it where some people hit the switch and it takes the heli about 4-5 seconds to reach full rpm, not instant like other helis. is this in the transmitter, rx, or the motor or speed control? is it a setting? just curious thanks, matt

I don't know much, but I hit my idle up switch on my AXE CPv3  by accident (all stock)and it spooled up immediately, scared me silly at first

RE: slow startup???

well if its a nitro heli, they might have alot of negetive pitch on the blades, causing more drag, which means more time to start up, or they could b running it so rich, that the motor just takes that long to spool it up(not a good thing), but its most likely the pitch. If it was electric, it was probably because of the same reason. If it spools up very quickly, the blades probably had very little pitch(around zero), which causes blades to spool up quickly,<div>
</div><div>Hope this helped some with the simple question</div><div>

RE: slow startup???

on electric heli's its a part of the esc usually and its called soft start, its purpose is to try and save the gears and bearings from full force starts.. my blade 400 does that.

IMHO going from zero RPM to full RPM by clicking idle up would not be a good idea unless you have a esc soft start for electrics or a gov delay for nitros. The sudden power increase could fold the blade back and cause all sorts of problems.

thank you everyone who quickly responded, it is an electric and it does have a "soft start" thanks alot for the replies, i just wanted to know, thanks again, matt
