For those of you who live around Charlotte and have attended events at Charlotte Aeromodelers, you can attest to the flying facility. It is one of the nicest fields I have ever been a member of.
To make a very long story short here, the club has never been very accommodating to helicopter pilots due to the fact that only a couple of guys in the club fly helis and there was never any internal interest through the club to support it.
As of last Tuesday the club voted and approved to dedicate a heli facility on site. They are installing permanent heli pads just to get things started. They are also prepared to dedicate the entire field for heli events. This would be governed by the heli pilots who are members of the club.
Additionally, CAM dropped their $100 initiation fee for 2014. This is due to a current healthy club membership, very successful events in 2013, and to help attract new members for this year. Memberships are now $185 annually.
Any heli pilot who wishes to fly at CAM as a guest can come back 4 times before a membership is required. You can take a look at the club filed here.

We are located on a 70 acre site at the corner of 218 and 200 between Monroe and Locust.
If you guys would like to take a day and fly at the field just PM me and let me know when you are coming or you can give me a call at 704-221-6550. All you need is a current AMA.
In my opinion this is long overdue so we are very excited to support the helicopter community with equal enthusiasm to our current event calendar.
Any thoughts or ideas you guys have would be most welcome. We would be very interested in the Heli group involved in designating their flight area as well as necessary accommodations to support their needs.
Please feel free to comment.
