Sorry, still kind of new about this internet thing.
Flying my Mini elec around the back and front yard only with NO wind.
Just bought a Raptor 50 nitro. WAY to big and dangerous to try flying around here
By the way you can (kind of fly in the 2 car garage). That if you just keep trying not to crash
considered flying.
Talk to you later Good Luck

Sounds like you need one of these to see what freq they're on...

If you leave your radio off and turn on your receiver you will know it someone is on your frequency.

If not, fly with a FS8, it will take over if you get hit. The PCM radio is just going to kill your heli if you get hit.

<<If you leave your radio off and turn on your receiver you will know if someone is on your frequency.>>

That's a sucker bet. There is a huge difference in reception on the ground and fifty feet in the air.

As for the freq checker... I've been looking at that. I wonder just how accurate it is???

1.) as stated, ground testing will not tell you whether you'll get shot down in the air. 2.) co-pilot will not do much for you if someone else is using your frequency...it only helps if the rx loses the signal altogether. the older versions forced use to use the included glitchy rx. newer versions are better in that allow the use of your own PCM rx. 3.) PCM does not "kill your heli" if you get interference. if it gets a momentary bad signal or loss of signal it will only discard frames until the good signal returns. if the bad or no signal condition remains for so many seconds, the rx will go into failsafe mode which can be programmed as desired.

until we get spread spectrum going, there is just no cure for someone operating on the exact same freq and modulation.

I fly in my back yard. I have a raptor 30v2 and I use about an acre to have fun. The rest is a buffer zone.

Only once and it was brief flight, it was out front though. It's too dangerous in a neighborhood to fly my Raptor 50. I do fly my foamie park flier at home occassionally. Usually at dusk when I know there's noone at the flying field since it is only 1.6 miles by air from my house.

I fly over several acres of pasture land, adjoining our property, which is only about 200 feet from our back door.

I fly in my backyard with an Eolo. Usually when I can't be bothered to go out with the glow engined kit.

I use my backyard to break in and tune engines. Not enough room to do anything except hover.

Don't think I've ever broken in an engine - just too lazy. I've worn out a fair few though.. Plenty of room for an Eolo in the backyard.

I've flown in my front yard right in town (no people around). I've flown in a friends front and back yard out in the country. And once (kids please don't try this at home it is extremely difficult and very dangerous) flew a Raptor 30 in a friends basement on a bet.

We just got one for our club field, I'll probably post a thread on it when we see how well it works. It claims to have 300 ft range with the internal antenna, and 1000 ft range with an optional external antenna. The manual also has disclaimers about possibly getting false readings if you are too close to a TX, etc., so I'm not expecting too much at this point! For $50, it's worth a try, especially for a club...

Keep us advised, Paul.

Like you, I wouldn't be expecting a whole lot for $50... but you never know.

Nice, Matt!

Look like you may have to get some pontoons for that Raptor 60... do some water landings!

Why would you think they wouldn't be on 72 MHZ? What are they supposed to be on, 75MHZ. That would be just a little illegal!
