Some Help in tracking down vibration
I am running an x-cell 60 with a Webra 50 engine, and a CSM HLG 200 gyro, the engine is tuned in nice and sweetly finally however I am getting vibration in the model. I can see the undercarriage vibrate but very fast, and the tail also seems to have a little high speed vibration in it too. This vibration seems to be affecting the gyro and causing the tail to twitch. I have checked and re-checked the flybar, paddles, and main blades, everything appears to be in balance and the blades appear to be tracking nicely, however this vibration still persists.
Any pointers on this as I am have a hard time trying to track this down, and I really want to get into my flying but this is a problem I need to sort out. Regards Dmac |

what's your head speed, and is it a vertical or horizontal vibration in the tail?

Not sure of the head speed as i don't have a tach, and it's a horizontal vibration as far as i can tell but you realy have to look closley at the undercarriage to spot it, as it's such a fast vibration.

The tail vibration seems to be vertical, this is also very fast and hard to spot.

i would make sure my engine/clutch alignment was dead on. did you need to shim the webra to get it to line up?

Okay the engine/clutch alignment appears to be fine, it's all straight. As for shimming, explain what you mean.
I got this model of a fellow heli flyer and he installed the webra50, all i have done is strip the heli down, replace parts and rebuild it after it had been sat still for 3 years, which included freeing up the engine and getting that to work, plus a new gyro. |

if your alignment is good then you don't need shims to adjust the engine position in its mount. low head speed can cause vibration. if your clutch is aligned, engine tuned and head balanced, i don't know what else would cause front end vibration.

Thanks Barbary for your tips, i think i have tracked this down to the head speed being too low in the hover, i went out today and increased the headspeed, this in turn stopped the vibration.
Once again many thanks. |
