Here is what's going on with my rappy50:
I go to full RPM (1700) on the ground. When I get around 0 pitch or +2 the heli just starts shaking wildly, not the tail, the whole heli, like something would be really out of balance! I take it off the ground and it is ROCK solid. I set it back on the skids even just floating and it start shaking again! Not temporally, as long as I have it in this floating +2 pitch position. The RPMS is always around 1700 (with the speed gov on) Any suggestions? Thanks |

You should be at around 1600 to 1650 RPM at 6 degree's pitch in a hover, I don't recommend running it on the ground at 1700 RPM at 0 degree's pitch could cause problems with any heli! Raptors do dance a little bit when spooling up and spooling down it can be cured with the proper throttle pitch curves. I'm glad you got her going I hope you get it dialed in and flying well, due to the low cost, low fear factor your flying will advance quickly.
Can you set up a normal mode for hovering using regular pitch and throttle curves and then set the gov. for Idle up? That would help reduce the bad vibes you are having. |

i thought about that but obviously i will need to get to the 1600 or 1700 RPM before i take off and it did it even shake without the gov. on a normal throttle curve. and it shakes BAD, brutal. and i have seen other rappys spool up. it it is way more shaking.
any other thoughts ? |

Did you lube the rubber dampners and spindle with silicon grease? if you don't do this it will buck like mule.
|
startup shakes
only a little, but shouldn't it shake off the ground as well than.
it is rock steady in the air. |
startup shakes
Pull the spindle and lube up the dampners really good that should smooth it out a lot.

i'll do and will post results as soon as i can, any other thoughts meanwhile?
thanks (sorry it's raining where you are, here 75 C, perfect weather) |
startup shakes
Glad to hear you have good weather, it does make a guy feel better to know that somewhere it's bright sunny and warm. The worst part is my RealFlight is out on loan, never ever loan out your RF, the withdrawl is worse than what I went through when I quit smoking.

had to replace the spindel because the thread stripped.
next spindel the thread broke off next spindel the thread stripped again and have yet to figure out how to get it off the head wish i could post results on the shakes, but i am not even getting this sucker in the air... |
startup shakes
What the heck are you using a 40 inch breaker bar? I've never broken or stripped a spindle, you only need to run the nut up till it stops, it doesn't need to be torqued down to 100 lb's. I wish you luck with the next one.
|
startup shakes
not even close to 100lbs, but it should hold quite some torque regardless...
lets see, 260 grams spinning at 1800 RPM, what is the force pulling? |
startup shakes
maybe i should just fly with the stripped spindle, since i have no clue how to get it off...
|
startup shakes
No don't fly the stripped spindle that would be asking for trouble, you might want to ask for some help at your local flying field. Best of luck!

what help?

It seems that all of your "shakes" are comming with the skids touching the ground, even slightly... Some of the Raptor fliers I have helped back here have experienced similar "shakes"...
We have found that the Raptor landing gear (same thing on my little Voyager E) is quite flexible and the vibrations are being amplified by the landing gear... These guys have replaced their landing gear with MinAir "Tuff Struts" and the slightly beefier struts have gotten rid of their "shakes"... |

i will update this thread and problem as soon as i have an other spindle ...
