Top of the range 3D heli
Hi,
I was wondering if anybody could tell me what the ultimate best helicopter is for 3D flying (regardless of price). I have heard that there is nothing better than the Henseleit 3DNT with a Webra 91 engine. Is this true? http://www.henseleit-helicopters.de Thanks, Slovac |
RE: Top of the range 3D heli
Its all a matter of personal prefrence! If I were going to a 90 I'd go with the R90 SE (when ever it comes out)

RE: Top of the range 3D heli
Ive got a Vario X-perience with the webra 91 and a tuned pipe. that heli is one lb heavier than a 60 sized 3D machine and will perform flawlessly. I have to say it is one of the best out there.

RE: Top of the range 3D heli
this is only me commenting on anouter mates heli;
the Excell Fury Extreme on a OS 90 C-spec and curtise muccle pipe is amazing. When the engine was only just running in and on its 2nd flight it was able to climb 2x faster than my outher mates Raptor 60 with a OS 60WC. Once the engine was on song the performance was absolute ballistic. |
RE: Top of the range 3D heli
Folks have great things to say about the Freya, so i just bought one. They make a few different variations including an X spec with carbon frames, torque tube drive, metal head... pretty expensive though (around 1000 for kit without blades or engine), so i bought the standard version (under 400$). With OS 91 C spec and muscle pipe, this should be a fun little beast.
Like raptor dude says, you will get different answers from diferent folks. |
RE: Top of the range 3D heli
I knew I was going to get different answeres from different people... but nobody has commented on the 3DNT yet. I have had a look at the design of the main rotor head, and it looks amazing.
My question still stands, is there anything better than the 3DNT ... something with a better design, or something that has better technology implemented into the design of the heli. |
RE: Top of the range 3D heli
I have a Fury Extreme, and one of my club-mates has a 3DNT which I have dabbled with. Both are ballistic in the air, but the Fury gives better orientation...the 3DNT isn't the easiest helicopter to keep track of in full 3D flight but the Fury is, in my opinion, just as capable of performing 3D.

RE: Top of the range 3D heli
Cool ... thanks for the reply. I will have the chance to see a 3DNT in action this weekend, so I will give my opinion next week then.

RE: Top of the range 3D heli
I'm still new on the chopper scene , but two of our club's top 3D pilots both fly 3DNT's with the webra 91 engines and the performance is mind shattering . The head design with the sliding flybar is much more simple then that of the Vigor CS that one those pilots also fly . But the 3D perfomance according to him is way better on the 3DNT for less money than the Vigor . The webra engines just take alot longer to run in than an OS would , but is worth while waiting for . The Power is noticibly more . This 3DNt actually climbs in a TIC-TOC manuever while still running in and quite rich . The webra setup is also more complex , but once set you'll never look back .
I see that you are from Cape Town aswell SLOVAC , so why not come down this weekend to TMFC in Durbanville and you will probably see them both in action ... |
RE: Top of the range 3D heli
You say 3dnt is very powerful but what fuel do you use with it?? Do you use nitro or no? If no, how can it be so powerful ??
Thanx Thierry |
RE: Top of the range 3D heli
Well as I mentioned , the specific pilot that has both the Vigor CS with an OS 91 c-spec and the 3DNT with the Webra 91 flies them both with the same feul (15% Nitro) and he says the 3DNT feels more powerfull...

RE: Top of the range 3D heli
Because of the bad weather on Saturday, I did not get to see the 3DNT in action ... and according to weather reports, this weekend does not look any better [&o]
Thierry, According to the designer of the 3DNT (Jan Henseleit), you don't need any nitro when using an OS91 motor. The power is obtained by using a gear ratio specific to that engine(7,7:1), and also because of the unique design of the heli(it is a very light heli). |
RE: Top of the range 3D heli
get an joker acrobat. the joker is top of the line electric with amazing power and performance. I'd think this is better also because parts are readily available, always in stock on anything you need is joker-usa. plus howard is very noligable and helpful.
want some odd heli's look up vison x and tornado, both nice gas heli's. good luck |
