Blade Tracking
 

I know how to check the blade tracking. I just can't seem to get it done.
I currently have one blade tip painted red and the other painted black and I can see that the tracking is off a little bit but I can't tell which is which.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I have good vision, I don't even wear glasses but I am shade blind( but not with red and black) and I suspect that when these things are moving this fast my eyes just aren't picking up the different colors.
Any good suggestions on how to check these things?
Or
Should I just adjust one then fire it up again and see if I'm going in the correct direction.

I generally hit the THOLD, adjust a blade (remembering which ;) ), spin up and check to see if I made it any better or worse....

Try floresent red on one blade and clear on the other, this way you will be able to tell which is tracking high or low.

Trial and Error
 

First, see if you are hovering at the proper stick position. This determines if you take pitch out or put pitch in the blades. Then just pick one blade and adjust it a couple turns. If the tracking got worse, you adjusted the wrong blade. Set it back and adjust the other blade.
This works for me, and you will probably get better ideas than mine. Good Luck.

I use the Hivoltage method of blade tracking it works very well. :D

I believe I'll use your method, that's kind of what I was thinking also, but I never really considered the hover position idea of picking which blade to adjust. Makes since.
I guess I was just wondering if I was the only heli flier out there that couldn't tell anything from the colored tips method.

i painted a tiny white dot on top of one of my blade grips, and when the tracking is out i always raise that blade one turn first. then whether the tracking is closer or farther off, i'll know which blade was higher and proceed from there.

On both my raptor and Venture , first I set a pitch of -3 , 5.5 ~6 and 9 degree on one blade ( for low , Hover and full stick points) , then I check the pitch on other blade and adjust it , test fly it Done !

Here is how I do it, I place a piece of BLACK electrical tape on the leading edge of one of the blades near the tip(my blades are white). I place the Helli against a neutral background and spin it up to the point it starts to get light on the skids. If the blades are out of track the lack tape makes one blade appear shorter and it is easy to see which one is above the other. Adjust the appropriate link to raise the lower blade or ower the top blade. I usually set my blade pitch on one blade and I mark the root so I know which one it is. I will let that be the master and I will adjust the other to it, this way I keep the pitch range I set. I remove the tape and place it on the tail boom for the next time. You should use about 2 inches of tape so the difference is easy o see. Any way that's how I do it and I've never had a problem.
