How Much Payload

hello

Would Anybody Know How much weight can a R/c helicopter carry?

How much for a .30 size
.60 size
.90 size
1.20 size

any infomation anybody would have on this would be great. I'm currently in the middle of an project for college and this info would greatly help!

Thanks chris

RE: How Much Payload

I saw a 90 lift a gallon jug of water once, didn't seem to struggle with it at all. The jug splats pretty good when dropped from 150 feet. :D

My 30 will lift a 8mm camcorder no problem. I'm not sure of the weight. You can tell it's on there, but it doesn't seem to bother the heli.

RE: How Much Payload

:D It can carry that much ?!
Wow, so is is almost not neccesairy to get me a whireless camera for my heli. Just build te darn thing myself. (Does this also aply for a Raptor .30 V2 with an OS-engine ?)

RE: How Much Payload

This dead seriously true. I seen a video of a guy tie 20 lb. test fishing to skids of a .60 X-cell heli.
His buddy threw the line out off the side and the guy slowly dragged the line across a huge pond. Next you see the heli drop down a few inches then ripped back up a few inches and the next thing you know this guy is pulling up in the air what looks like a 4 to 6 pound bass flopping around . I have been trying to get the video again but can't seem to locate it. I got it off of kazaa. If anyone finds it post it will ya please. I'm going heli fishing this summer :D

o man, that's gotta be fun.
Good to know that a heli can carry that much :D
-> it opens a lot of possibilities ... :)

RE: How Much Payload

I hear that. I can't wait to try and fish with it. But man wouldn't it suck if you kooked a huge northern pike or catfish. I am going to try and rig some quick release mechanism to let go of the line if it seems like it will be pulled in:D I would cry, lol

RE: How Much Payload

yeah, that realy has to suck. to see your heli go down in the lake.
Don't know or I would jump in after it. (probably won't be that much left to save )

RE: How Much Payload

Might be a good idea to put floats on the skids just in case. you can get a set from Heliproz for just over 20$.

Yeah floats are a definate. Might just save you . lol

That is exactly what i had in mind where did you get them? Have you used them on any water yet? If so is it stable on a little chop?

I'm ready!!:D:D

RE: How Much Payload

I got them at Tower hobbies: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXM032&P=7

I haven't flown off the water yet - don't know if I'll ever have the nerve to do that - we'll see - summers coming;)

It did look good in my bathtub though:D - part of the directions - for leveling the heli on them.

I actuallly got them for the snow - landing with skids in deep snow is not a good idea. These things worked awesome. I wish I had some pictures of it at the field.

I think most of the snow is gone so I'll be moving back to the stock gear at the field

RE: How Much Payload

I used to have a glider tow hook set up on a XL 60 and a buddy and I would drop his rather small glider from as high as I could go, one day while doing this a guy comes up and asked me to try and pick up / drop his 60 size stick. We hooked it up and I lifted it about 20 feet and the XL just sit there screaming and no further vertical movement. Eventually a little wind came up and alowed me to enter FF flight and climbed up high enough to drop the stick so it could glide back to the field. I don't know what a 60 size stick weighs but it was too much for a XL 60 with 680 blades/OS 61SX and 30% nitro.

RE: How Much Payload

i'll be trying to fish with a MA Custom Graphite with a YS 61 ST1. Swinging 700mm Rotorsport blades. Think it will lift 6 to 7 pounds? 4 to 5 pounds is about the average bass in oneida lake. Same goes for the walleye. Although there are some real monsters and not uncommon to be caught. Which is why i want a quick release for the line. Where did yuo get that system you are talking about to drop a glider? Ordered my floats this morning. :D

RE: How Much Payload

:D This is really becomming a huge hit: heli-fishing.
He didn't mention where he bougth it, he is thinking of making it for himself
shouldn't be so hard. Simply use a strong servo that could pull out a pin that is connected to your fishing whire. (similar to what happens when you pull out the ring of a grenade) -> Even I, being a novice, would be able to make one. :D

RE: How Much Payload

Ya know that is a great idea. I had some other wacko plan that probably would of resulted in putting on my scuba gear. LOL

RE: How Much Payload

Alright, lesson learned today - if you land your heli in the water and bring it down to idle, make sure its not going to stall!!

I brought mine out today and sure enough there was a huge puddle at the end of the field. I thought I'd give it a try, taking off and landing. All was well until I stopped to snap a picture (see my gallery). When I throttled back up I gave it too much too fast and the engine died. I'm glad it was only a puddle...

He He!!!

fly fishing already exists ... [8D]

RE: How Much Payload

I have heard that if you lower the pitch and increase the motor rpm you can increase the payload on your chopper. I did exactly that with my Quick and it could lift three times as much as it did before. But you need to make sure the pitch is at a reasonable level or you could strain your engine with the high rpms. Try it, its awesome!!!
