O.S. 32 problem

Hello, I am new at helis and I have a Nexus with an OS .32. When I fire it up, it can only idle for about 5 or 6 seconds after taking the glow driver off. If I dont get on the gas pretty quick, it dies quickly. I tried an OS #8 plug, Fox miracle, but didnt help much. Im using 15-20 Sig fuel. Ive been all over the place with the low end needle. Today is the first time in about a 3 months ive fooled with it. I used to have a bad set up problem, but the engine ran fine. Now its the other way around. I had a nice fellow to fix my set up, but now the engine has gone to the crapper! Once I get it going it seems to work fine. Can someone give me some advice on some troubleshooting for a better idle? Thanks

Try a hotter plug , or diffrent fuel.

O.S. #8 or Enya#9 plug.
Your favorite synthetic fuel, 15% ( I prefer Cool Power, but it depends on what your LHS offers).

My experience with the Sig fuel is that it is Castor oil and has a higher oil percentage, around 20%. While it is excellent in airplances, it goes against the grain in helicopters.

Reset the needle settings to the default by O.S. and with a slightly leaner low end (defined as 12:00 oclock to 1:00 oclock amount of adjustment.)

Castor oil and heli engine do not mix , I did'nt realize your using fuel with Castor oil in it. Change your fuel like bhelisN6 said and it think you will be pleasantly surprised.

short runs

Can be many things;

1) How old is your fuel? Was it sealed with the original cap? If not - did the bottle cave in on a cool morning? no- chuck it and get a new jug. Yes, May still be dead.
Reset the needles to factory spec and get a tankful from an different source. See if it helps.
Reason: Fuel absorbs water from the air and it won't burn well.
This cured mine more than once.

2) back flush the fuel system including the needle valves.
Or do a complete teardown on the carb and clean it out.
Then reset to factory recommended on both needles and start over. Make sure you have fresh fuel, see #1
Reason: crud in a needle is impossible to adjust.
This has also helped me a couple times.

THANKS GUYS!!!!! The 20/20 blend fixed the idle problem, but now I have a new problem with shakes. I think I'll start a new thread. Thanks again! DPT
