Help me control my model
I have been practicing my flying skills on Real Flight Sim. I want to start learning to pirruett (incorrect spelling I’m sure, sorry)… I have not idea how to control the heli while it is spinning. It seems like every input has the same result. How do I control the Model??

RE: Help me control my model
Practice, practice and then when you've done that practice again.
Start with the heli 'side on' from the left and then from the right. Once you can do that practice slowly turning the model from one side to the other, through 180 degrees, with the tail coming towards you. Once you can do this point the model towards you and learn 'nose-in'. When you can do this you can start trying 'spot turns'. Good luck. |
RE: Help me control my model
Start with it in a steady hover, add tail rotor and don't touch anything else. Do it slow and smooth. Work up to the harder stuff slow.

RE: Help me control my model
I think I might have not been clear in with my question. Sorry guys. I am anxious to learn to control the movement of my helicopter in space with it is spinning around its lateral axis. How do I get it to move to the right, forward, or backwards while rotating? When I give an input the model just starts to spin asymmetrical; no movement in any direction is accomplished.
I can fly nose-in, inverted, and all that jazz. I am looking to take it to the next level! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Will |
RE: Help me control my model
Sorry but I don't really understand what you are trying to do.
Too many big words! |
RE: Help me control my model
Ahh. I think I understand you.
If I do, and you can properly hover in all axis as you say. Then it is just a combination of all the movements. You have to imagine yourself in the cockpit! Imagine the heli hovering side on, nose to the right. Push forward cyclic and it will move right. Now add left 'rudder'. (we'll do this in four points) When it is pointing away from you, you need to add right cyclic. Hold the left 'rudder' input and you will end up nose pointing to the left. now you need aft cyclic to continue going right. Hold the left 'rudder' and you will be pointing towards you. You now need left cyclic. (nearly there). Hold the left 'rudder' and you will be back where you started. i.e. the cyclic stick moves in a circle as the heli rotates. Try it at each quarter and then try it whilst turning. I hope I have understood you this time. Oh. Just to let you know, where I come from this is called a 'carousel'. |
RE: Help me control my model
Try it from forward flight first. Get moving slowly and then give it the tail rotor. Start high when you do it. Then you can slowly learn the inputs. As stated, you need to move the cyclic stick in a circle to keep it moving at just the right speed. You need to start from forward or sideways flight. It would be tough to make it look good starting from a hover.

RE: Help me control my model
Thanks for all the help!! Next question. Is there a trick to flipping it upright/inverted?

RE: Help me control my model
You need to start from forward or sideways flight. It would be tough to make it look good starting from a hover. The F3C Schedule has Yawing circles etc. and they are all flown in the hover box, not in forward flight. I would start off by keeping the speed low (i.e. Hover Taxi or you may get into trouble). |
RE: Help me control my model
Hey, I just thought that this question might fit in here: Does anyone know how to do the thing that Alan Szabo does, then he goes back and fourth...just in one position, ....
Well, it's kinda where he is hovering 'upright' with the tail pointing down, and of course the nose pointing up...and he just goes back a forth.....there are a couple of videos of him doing this in like a demo show on the Augustoheli.com site....under his video....I have tried to post this question in a completly whole thread, but now response......I hope you know what I'm talking about here.....I have tried to do it in G2, but just nothing will work like the real thing..... Oh yeah, go to the AFP website, and then look at the helicopter video on the first page under Video 3 - Heli Video, look for what I'm talking about, about 1:58 min into it....I have always wanted to try that......If there is a name for that maneuver, could ya please tell me what it's called??....Actually, here is a direct link (I think) right to the video... [link=http://home.tiscali.be/flightfreaks/heli.WMV]Video 3 - Heli Video[/link] THANKS ALOT |
RE: Help me control my model
HeliWill,
Is there a trick to flipping it upright/inverted? iflynething, the move you are referring to is a "tic-toc" or "metronome". Very difficult to do without losing altitude, and requires a decent amount of power to do correctly. |

I thought that that was what it was called, I saw that "tic-toc" somewhere on these forums, and I didn't think to look at the thread......I have to say that that is a great, and impressive maneuver just to watch....!!...Thanks... |
