Fuel overburn

I just installed a OS50 in my raptor 50. I'm only getting 5 minutes of flight from a full tank. What is wrong? I know i should be getting at least 15 to 20 minutes easily. All i'm doing is hovering and slow fwd flight. No fancy aerobatics.

Does running the fuel too rich cause this? Wow, if so, it can cut my flight time by 1/3?
Maybe there's a leak? After about 5 tanks, I called it a day, there's fuel everywhere. Alot of cleaning up to do.

Thanks in advance for you help.

It sounds like you are on the rich side.......But when i had my 50 7 to 8 minutes is all i got tops. That engine likes to drink fuel. I was told that the Curtis pipe really helps the problem and the flight times go up to 12 min. Once you get past a 30 those 20 to 25 min flight times are gone forever.

Sounds like you are very rich and I bet you are using 30% nitro. I am using 15% and getting 12 minute flights with the header tank still full and probably an ounce left in the main tank when I shut down with the same setup as you.:D I have very minimal cleanup although I do spend most of my time in FF.

I had problems like this, but for some reason after running in, I have to run it a 3/4 of a turn!!!! to get any appreciable power out of it and there is still pleanty smoke, so its not over heating, now I easily get flight times of tweanty minutes.

nope, i' m running 15%, but i set it very rich whle i'm breaking it in. I've already put 5 tanks of fuel thru it. I'll start leaning it out today and monitor my flight times.

thanks guys.

Don't rush it put a gallon through it before you start leaning it. Let it break in nice!!
