How Come????
Originally posted by Furyflyer2 Just a observation but , this thread's topic was "How do you do a pirouetting loop" not how good a guy can fly. Let's keep to the topic not the personal references. THANK YOU This is a new topic, per instructions of the Moderator. How come it’s viewed as “an attack” on a Moderator, when their consistent poor grammar and spelling is merely pointed out? How come, when a Moderator “actively” participates in a post, he/she is allowed to change, delete, or end the post to benefit their position? Or, if their experience is questioned they end or delete the post, sighting it’s a “personal attack” toward them? A good moderator should do their job, which is to reduce problems, regulate and control a post. This is a big reason why a moderator should not enter into (most) every post. As soon as the moderator enters the post he/she now becomes just another normal participant, and should not attempt to use their position to control the post. Furthermore, though insignificant in itself, the moderator has a duty toward professionalism and should strive to construct grammatically correct sentences. When this is not done, the Moderators’ high statue is relegated to just another “average Joe.” Pete |
How Come????
I'm with you Pete, now they can kick both of us off.

How Come????
Switchless,
Sounds like you have this new forum stuff figured out. This is not like the days from Compuserv when you could feel free to speak your mind. I use to really enjoy reading your post there <G> David |

Gentleman - please allow me to interject here my opinions on these matters.
Also should my grammar be less than perfect please allow for this as I was not an English major and frequently type in somewhat of a "shorthand" where my point will clearly come across but may not be exact perfect grammar (but my spelling is usually quite good)... With that caveat said let's begin :) First comments as to others spelling and grammar should not be pointed out in the forums. If we were to nitpick everyone's ability to spell or be grammatically correct I'm sure 95% or more of us would have errors. If this was the case this board would be littered with ridicule for our use of the English language. Also somebody's ability to fly as opposed to their knowledge of helis or flying skills are clearly unrelated as we all will agree. Next our moderators are average Joe's. They are just like you and me and nobody is special. They are modelers like us who enjoy the hobby and put in their own personal time with zero compensation to try to help others sincerely or keep the peace whenever possible. To think they will be Curtis Youngblood with an English Degree is simply not in the cards nor realistic. What the moderators are doing is their best job to help where they can and like a regular user their advice may be great at times and at other times not so great as they are human. Lastly a new feature has been added this week to the forums and the instructions to the moderators are to "Nuke" posts rather than delete them...this way if any post is deleted it can be viewed later by me if you think an error in judgement has been made and even potentially reinstated. Again nobody is perfect 100% of the time...not even me :) So please don't bicker and remember that there are beginners that come here who are thinking of buying a new heli and experts who visit to help or gain additional info. Let's not scare anybody off with petty issues and make this a great place for everyone to learn about heli's or buy and sell them. Thanks everyone. |

Originally posted by Pete O'Connor Moderators are just "Joe Average"?? True. However, it's how you "carry yourself" that separates the men from the boys. I disagree with your idea of a Moderator, but it's your forum. Pete For expert advice see any of our direct support forums where manufacturer reps answer questions or team sponsored modelers are there for "expert" support. Many of our moderators have varying degrees of experience where some may have more and others less. This is always the way life is...others will be richer than you and others more poor...others smarter and those who are not as smart...somebody taller and somebody shorter than you...rarely are you the one at the top or bottom of anything. As for controversy I believe much of that happened over on an a site we all know because it was allowed. I don't feel many things that were allowed to be said should have been but it wasn't my forum to make that call. Many users got into the habit or belief that it's their god given right to attack another or be out of line but in reality it is not nor is that type of exchange wanted by the majority. Take it from somebody who built a forum from absolutely nothing into the largest RC site on the internet bar none in under 6 months. I listened to what users wanted and still do and in time I am absolutely certain we will not only have the majority of airplane modelers here but the majority of heli flyers here as well exchanging useful information. RCU will soon be expanding it's heli section into a more dedicated platform strictly for heli's and I'm sure it will be to everybody's liking. |
How Come????
Marc, I like the idea of a Heli dedicated forum. Hmmmm RCHU, Cool. Daz...

Cool

Yeah. Remember how he HATED thread drift?<G> I dunno, he must have been frightened by thread drift as a child, because he sure would do his best to stamp it out. As a forum newbie, I was flayed more than once for making an off-topic comment...<G> BTW, Marc, on the topic of proper grammar and spelling, I happen to agree 100% with Pete. But given the responses that we see every time the subject comes up, you are correct to minimize it. It is just not important to most board denizens, apparently. Steve |
How Come????
Pete, when Furyflyer2 asked everyone to stay on topic, I read it as coming from the person who originally started the thread, not from the moderator at all. And I actually agreed with the comment.
I am very interested in learning how to do a pirouetting loop and could care less how much time everyone spends on the sim vs. burning fuel etc. If you want to know that, then start a thread asking everyone for their comments on that topic. Too often a thread goes off track. Not to say that there isn't a lot of really good information shared when it does go off track, but unfortunately a lot of people will miss out on this great information because they don't want to learn about the thread topic. Just my view. Dean |
How Come????
"Also somebody's ability to fly as
opposed to their knowledge of helis or flying skills are clearly unrelated as we all will agree." gotta disagree with ya on that coment marc. all the knowledge in the world don't ad up to nothing, if ya can't actually fly the damned heli, or plank fer that mater. and sim time really does not count. |
How Come????
Dean - said perfectly :)
the organization of the forums and the ability to find info easily hinges on the topics staying on track. Remember even when reading a thread there is a "new thread" icon right next to the post reply button if you need to go off topic and that is why it is there for such convenience. |
How Come????
Mongo - oops...I'll agree with you here as I meant "Also somebody's ability to be a moderator" and NOT "Also somebody's ability to fly" in that paragraph...my bad :(
Darn...not even a spelling or grammar error but a total brain short circuit... :) Ya never know what's gonna take you down. (pardon my slang) |

Dean Doesn't it strike you odd, that during the first "41" posts which went off in all different directions, with the moderator participating, that no one complained about "thread drift" or in the words of the moderator, "Tread drift". But as soon as I pointed out a problem with both moderator #1 and moderator wannabee #2, the question of thread drift reared it's head. True, there was some tread drift, however, let's call a spade a spade, please........... Pete |
You know

Are they doing what they are saying they are doing right? This board is to further the Hobby. If I was a new-bee, never flown a Helli in my life. And saw people bicker over things so petty. I would not want to even get involved with asking. Hi I am new what is a good Helli, Because I would be scared of getting bashed. People say they want to further the hobby. But there action on this list have been the complete opposed. This whole string has nothing to do with furthering this hobby. All it is doing is bringing it down.. Think about it. |

You seem to have a hidden agenda, it's sad because I for one would like to talk R/C not he said this and I said that. Please let's get back to the hobby. |
Boy, I sure made a boo-boo
