Please Help Needle Idle setting
OK Here is the problem First I have to say I MESSED up I went to ajust the low speed needle better know as the mixture metering screw On my TT39 . I would like to know is there a way I can turn it all the way in then back it out so many turns to get at lest close to a idle and to get the motor started as of now I can't start the motor at all cause I messed up the setting. I have to high speed ok out 3 turns then in 3/4 turn that was working good till I messed with the low speed one . as of now like I said I have to give it almost half throttle to get it started when it does start . Again how do you reset the low needle screw. How many turns after its close all the way does any one know HELP HELP HELP. Fuel being used is 15% nitro 20% lube. Thank You Ed

RE: Please Help Needle Idle setting
This is a very tricky part of setting your Heli up. I had the same frustartions, the Heli was running perfectly till one day it decided to start spluttering. I would say that if you have the factory recommendations start there, else I agree with bconway on his settings. One very important thing is that you need to have patience and not make big adjustments. I learned the hard way, it took me longer to get it right making big adjustments rather than 2 clicks at a time. I also found that recording the settings helped me a great deal because I could then look back and see I had already done and tried. It sounds like you have it too rich at the moment, 3 turns is a lot.

RE: Please Help Needle Idle setting
Hi Guys well I called acehobbys and talk to the service dep and they told me to set the low speed neddle .32 to .16 of a inch so I got a feeling gauge and tryed it and it worked the only thing was it was a little too much so I went down to .010 and it worked out good it started right up and idle good I took that measument from another carb from a TT36 Not saying that the 2 figures they gave me were wrong it was a good starting point . And for all you out there that have a problem with your ThunderTiger engines dont be afraid to call ACEHOBBY They are Great and VERY VERY Helpfull you can reach Them at AceHobby 1-949-833-7498 ask for John he is really good and very Friendly. Anyway so far the heli is Idle good will try to fly it sometime tomorrow I have to reajust the high speed neddle. I will reort back to how it runs. Keep'em Flying Ed

RE: Please Help Needle Idle setting
7.5 turns out on the LS to start and 3-4 turns out on the HS. This setting will get you started. If the LS needle is too lean the HS needle will have no effect whatsoever.
Once the engine idles pinch the fuel line and make sure that the engine takes 6-8 seconds BEFORE it speeds up, then set the HS needle to suit. TM |
RE: Please Help Needle Idle setting
Hi TMooreATX Thanks for the advice I will try that. I did put the carb back on and I used a feeler gauage to set it I look at my TT36 carb and measure it inside the carb barrel and a .010 fit inbetween it the low speed. so I set the TT39 the same way it it started right up and I slowly back it out just a little and got a better idle . I even called acehobby and they told me to set it at a fat .032of a inch I did and it ran but it kepth flooding. I tryed the other way .010 of a inch and she ran better. I wont know anything till I try it out. One problem now I reset the carb trottle link to the servo and I cant seem to get equal throw from low to high I reajusted it but eather it go to far close or if I lenthen it then it wont go to full open Can anyone help out there. Thank You Ed

RE: Please Help Needle Idle setting
alien,
Go to www.rcheli.com and click on throttle set up. He has an easy to understand set up. Just remember that you may have to readjust the arm on the carb itself. |
RE: Please Help Needle Idle setting
Two things to help in the future.
1. Sometimes I have found the glow plug fools me into thinking I have a mix problem. 2. Do the pinch test every so often to see how the settings are. Not much but I hope this helps. |
