super quick, extra stupid question....

Hello,
Just quick - can I use a charger for a NiCD battery on a NiMH battery? It's just a bog standard charger with no output options or anything.....

 got a lot to learn!

Cheers!

people say no, but i have a 6 cell NiMH pack that I always charge with the standard futaba charger. That when I just want to slow charge it for a day or 2. Usually I throw it on a .5 amp charge on my superbrain. You should not have a problem doing that though. It may take a bit longer to charge though.

Thanks Sean!
Perhaps I should learn to ask BEFORE I spend :D Just for information, I'm hoping to run both packs onboard, 1 for the avionics and the other for retractable landing gear. I want to keep the systems separate from each other, but I was hoping to have a single charging point. Hmmm! Still, nobody said this would be easy!!

Thanks again!

The only way to keep the systems seperate but still have a common charge point would be to modify your charge jack... You'll have to rig up some sort of "reed switch" or something like that on it, so that when the charge jack is plugged in, the two battery packs are bridged parallel to each other. Keep in mind by doing this you will be greatly increasing the "size" of the pack your charging, technically you should really then charge with higher current, but if not, you will need to allow for the extra charging time.

Bit more to it than I thought then?

Ask a stupid question, get a complex answer!!

Thanks fellas, given me plenty to think about....
