Cool Power

I had Cool Power 15% for 4 cycle engine. Looking into Morgan WEB site, I found that there is no difference between 4 cycle engine fuel and Heli engine fuel. Though I still do not understand why they have different name, I guess I can use my 4 cycle fuel for my heli.

Any thought?

Marketing. Some heli guys won't put "4 stroke" fuel in their engines and some four stroke guys won't put "heli" fuel in their engines. This also gives them the chance to charge extra for "heli" fuel.

Wow local folk lore was that 4 stroke fuel has less oil but they both say 17% lubricant. Guess I learned something today!

For the coolpower fuel the 15% aircraft, 15% fourstroke, and 15% heli are all the same, buy what the hobbyshop has the cheapest....

Actually 4 stroke fuel should have more oil due to the way the lower end is lubricated, by blow by that makes it past the rings. Many of the early 4 stroke fuels had less oil but they realized that they in fact needed more. I used 4 stroke fuel when I first got my Saito .65 back in the 80's but switched to the higher oil regular airplane fuel despite the extra smoke.

Morgan Fuel states that 15%, 20% and 30% are identical in its chemical composition. They used to make it differently but any longer.. Price looks same too. So I guess as long as I stay in the same Lub requirement, I can interchangeably use between 4 cycle and heli fuel.

RE: Cool Power

Yes, I agree with the statement about Cool power being the same....I asked a good firend of mine and owner of my LHS. He asked the Maker of Cool Power about the Oil content and was surprised to find out that the oil content is the same with all the cool power products. Which is great for me, Now I buy the cheapest fuel and only have to carry one jug of fuel when flying my Heli, 4 stroke and 2 stroke planes. :-) I buy the cool power oil and add one cap full to each gallon of fuel I buy.

I don't believe the oil content is the same between Cool Power 15% and 30% Heli high performance. The 30% heli sure generates more smoke by a long shot.

RE: Cool Power

It's not. According to their site, 15% heli has 17% Ultra High viscosity oil and the regular 30% heli has 22% low viscosity oil. The 30% Low Smoke heli has 20% Ultra High viscosity oil.
