More on the raptor setup.
..Ok I try to setup my raptor30. And I got som questios for you..
First: I cant get the pitch right. Im seting up the heli for 3d flying, so i whant +-9. First I hade to move the pitch ball link to the outer hole on the servo. But now I have a strange probleme. One side is almost perfect when I measure with the pitch gauge. But I cant get the other side to line up. If I adjust both of the blades to be -9 at the bottom they dont line up at the top, one blade is +9 the other is +8 degrees. And when I adjust both of the blades to be +9 they dont line up in the middel. One is 0 degree and the other is -2. Im getting frustrated! And the clutchs is grabing the bellhousing. Is this something that will wear down during normal operation? I hope you can guid me right.... Regards |

before you setup up your heli for flying 3D you should learn the basics of flying with a less radical setup...
regardless... don't worry to much about the two blades being the same, the pitch gage will give you a rough number anyway... if you use would blades, they might be warped.... do the final setup in flight, tracking of the blades first and than max climb-out rate without bogging the engine upside right and inverted... that will determine your max pitch... not the gage... wouldn't worry to much about the bell if it is a new heli it will wear in... hope that helps |

thanks :)
Well right now i fly f3c, and done that for 3 years. So the next step for me is 3d. I have a tt39 engine so i think +10 is possible. And thanks for the help :) Regards |

Is -7 enough to start learing 3d, or is -9 the best option?

It would seem to me that if you've been flying at least three years, you would be answering the questions instead of asking. If you are thinking -7º of pitch is enough, then you are not flying inverted. Is +7º enough pitch upright? Be honest, and you will get honest answers!

I say i fly f3c not that am good at it :) My setup is always -7 under normal flight. But i think -9 is to much to make low the heli flyabel.

That's why we employ different flight modes. In "Normal" you would have something like -6 to +9 or 10º with 0º at half stick. In "Idle UP" you would want -10º to +10º with 0º at half stick.

OK, If you pull out you manual, there is a good 3d setup page for the R30 including link lengths, and pitch settings. Page 21. These settings will get you a good basic startup for learning 3D.
Of course, after that point, everyone will have diffrent versions of how they think a 3D setup should be. This should get you going in the right direction. |
