Quick heli Quality ??

I have read some quite positive articles about the 30 & 60 quick machines.

Does anybody fly them on the forum and if so what do you all think. How reliable is it and what are the draw backs.

The price seems pretty good copmpared to the upgrades you'd have to pay for a plastic machine.

Appreciate your input.

unbeknownst to you, you've just dropped the
internet equivalent of a flaming torch in a pool
of gasoline. This is a hot topic. You should
use the search facility and seek out 'Quick' or
'Irwin'.

caveat emptor.

My good bud just bought one the Pro version. The heli is pretty much already upgraded from the factory. Reminds me a bit like my Shuttle RG with all the upgrades and anodized parts, but cost much less :)

This will possibly be my next helicopter I will purchase. The heli Terry has, has only about 25+ flights on it, but after balancing everything, it seems very smooth. As far as reliable, I have heard good things on its service. But with 25 flights on it, I think its premature to make a comment now on dependability. (Too Soon)

I fly a Quick 30 pro and Quick 60 Carbon. Both are excellent. As far as reliability, I've never had a problem with either (that wasn't my fault). I would recommend high performance servos for the CCPM, I started with standard Futabas then switched to 9202's and the controls feel considerably smoother. Using the 5mm tail rotor pushrod is another good idea IMO.

I've also seen the posts regarding customer service. I haven't had any problems with HHI, fairly helpful and everyone i have talked with has been friendly.

Quick Learner

I have one on order and should have it within the next few days- i'll drop a post here as to it's "out of the box quality"- I have a Quick Learner coming- so comments will be based on that package.

The general consensus seems to be it's an excellent helicopter package but distributed by a "not so kind" individual- parts also seem to be finished with varying degrees of color anodizing which may not match the hue of the original kit parts- again none of this relates to the actual chopper itself- which is reputed to fly very nicely and has a tight, precise feel to it- yet a very capable 3D heli.
There are no reports of ill flying characteristics or bad habits- the main drawback seems to be slightly ill fitting/machined replacement parts- this is only a few people's observations- but my research has also shown the quality control issues seem to have disappeared (hopefully online bashing has helped)....so correct fitting replacement parts seem to be on hand (new buyers are citing perfect fits for replacement parts)

..for the money there's nothing even close to this type of heli (in terms of machined quality aluminum parts)...

...I have one coming and can't wait to get it in the air!

replacement parts

I've had to order several replacement parts for my 30 (not for a while now, thankfully), but everything I got fit the same as OE. I did get a tail boom that didn't match the originals' color, but amazingly worked just the same.

Q 30 Pro

I have one! I love the machine. Smooth as Silk.
In the words of Ed Mcmahon: "EVERYTHING" is in the
box already sir...."
Nuttin else needed honey.
Watch for pics soon, as I am going to place the q30P
mechs in a custom Hughes 500D fuse setup this winter!
Then We'll have a Blue and Wht Police chopper!

Quick heli? Be a man, find out for yourself and stop
these insipid games. It's a nice little machine...

By the way, one gets a blue flame when the torch
is dropped into a bath of methanol/nitro mix!

Life is short...

Place your spirit/soul in the sky where it longs to be
and belongs... ;)

I bought my Quick in the spring of 2000. I bought it from an authorized dealer of HHI. It unfortunately had several main bearing blocks that were not for the .30. I spent many hours scratching my head until I finally took the drive to Coopersburg. They immediately exchanged the bearing for the correct ones. After that the machine went together perfectly.

HHI is great as far as ordering parts for their machines. However, I did order a crystal for my Futaba 8U and never received it. Even after many emails and calls. In fact, I am still waiting...

This reminds me... time for another email to Stefan before another summer goes by without being able to fly my heli.

Just realized I didn't answer the question. The Quick heli is definitely awesome. I'm glad I didn't buy a cheap imitation.

I have a 30 Pro Carbon that I bought used, and its great. Once I got it set up, it could almost hold a hover itself. The only thing I don't like, is the oil from the exhaust(I wish I could afford a turbine heli). :(
