Upgrading electronics
I am upgrading the electronics in my Rappy 30. I have purchased a Futaba S9254 tail servo to go with my gyro and getting ready to purchase the Futaba 9CHP transmitter. What would be good servos to upgrade to for the other controls? I currently have Futaba 3001's. Should I go digital or stay with standard servos? Can anyone offer pros and cons to each?
Thanks, Matt |
RE: Upgrading electronics
For Futaba I'd get 9252's. They seem to have the best following and are recommended all the time for helis.
I would certianly get digitals if you want better performance. They center better and have higher holding power. Get servos with at least 50 oz in of torque and you should be fine, but the 9252's will be perfect. A standard servo will be okay for the throttle unless you are gonna run a governor. You might also want to consider a higher capacity battery if you go digital. I run JR digital servos and get only 2 flights on an 1100mah nicd pack before I have to recharge it. That's the only downside to digitals other than price is that they draw more power. |

What Chris said.
Especially the battery upgrade. |
RE: Upgrading electronics
The S9252s are excellent... I have them in my Raptor 50. If you want to save some money, though, the S3152s are good digitals as well... they're slower and have lower torque (70 oz-in) than the S9252s but they are 1/2 to 1/3 the price. I have those in my JR Venture 30 CP...
