Upgrading TX Battery

I have a Raptor 30 V2 with a Futaba T6XAS. The TX and RX batteries are worn out I would like to upgrade these. I have read that getting a RX battery with higher Mah is good but I am not sure about doing the same for the TX. Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not real experienced with RC. Butt I can tell you this. If you have digital servos, they will suck some juice. I've also read several posts and talked to guys at the fly field. For my raptor 3 V1 they recommended in the neighbourhood of 2100 mah. The 600 mah that was installed they quickly frowned on. I already had 1800 mah for my radio so I didn't go any higher. After 1 flight my radio takes about 15 minutes to recharge using a quick field charger. The heli battery takes about 30 because of the digital servos I recently installed.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply! Anyone else?

As long as you keep the voltage and cell count on the tx you can upgrade it.

Get the biggest rx battery you can afford, I have a 4000Mah in my Raptor 50, I can fly all weekend without recharging.

I get my TX batts from here:
http://www.batteryspace.com

And my RX batts from here:
http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com

Batteryspace will sell you two 2000mAh NiMH TX packs for about $26 (plus shipping... ~$6 I believe), and CheapBatteryPacks will custom make you a good RX pack... I use four 2500mAh NiMH A cells in my helis...

I looked at batteryspace and saw that they hd the 2000mAh NiMH TX packs on sale for only $12.99 on sale,,,,, WOW!! It looks like I will order these. I also saw these for the RX, http://www.batteryspace.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=184 What is your opinion on these? You said that you get yours at cheap batteries Why not at battery space?

That RX pack is made up of sub-C sized cells... pretty much overkill for an RX pack IMO... much larger and heavier than a pack made out of A cells. A cells can put out more than enough current for a heli with digital servos and a gyro... no need to take the size and weight penalty of sub-C cells for that application, IMO...

If batteryspace had a four A cell RX pack, I would have bought it from them, though...

Here's the brick pack setup I use in my Raptor 50V2 (I use a flatpack version of this for my JR Venture 30CP):

Step 1: 4 cells
Step 2: CBP2500A cells
Step 3: Brick (or flat, whichever is best for your application)
Step 4: 22AWG Wire (only wire you can get with Hitec Male plug)
Step 5: Hitec Male Plug
Step 6: No (copper bar upgrade option, not needed here)

That's it...

Check out Hangtimes Hobbies, [link]http://www.hangtimes.com/[/link], they are fantastic. My recent order for a replacement Rx pack for my R50 V2 came the day after i ordered it and I paid for no special shipping. You can also call them and you will get good advice, along with the clear and concise info on the webste. I put a 1650mah NiMH battery in my JR8103 Tx and I have gotten 13 flights between recharges and still had battery available, where as the stock pack was only good for 3-4 flights.

My stock 1100mah NiCD Rx battery was only for 1-2 flights so I got a 1950mah NiMH for my R50.

What is your opinion on these?
Those should do a good job. With NiMH packs you don't want to use anything less than Sub-c, the smaller cells just can't deliver the current when running digital servos. Like barracudahockey said, bigger is better. I run a GP-3300 mah NiMH in all my stuff.
