Never used a 7C. I own an eclipse 7 and love it though. It's such a versatile radio! Everything is programmable, it's cool! :)

The only problem i've ever had with it, is it's lack of a native 90 degree eCCPM swash setup. It only supports 90 degree normal (non-eCCPM) or 120/180 eCCPM.

Considering just about all helicopters use 120 or 180 for eCCPM, it's hardly a problem. My eco-8 happens to use a 90 degree swash, so it required some use of the programmable mixers on my part to get it setup properly. Works great, was just a bit more of a pain to setup intially.

I've also found the programming to be pretty easy, with everything intuitively setup, I've also heard the total opposite from other people though, who find it hard to program, so I guess it comes down to personal logic or something [8D].

Another great feature is the radio is shift (+/-) selectable so it works with virtually all receivers, plus, the spectra module is probably the best thing since sliced bread. Being able to transmit on any frequency, and on any shift, is so damn convenient it's scary!

This is, of course, my admitedly biased opinion, as i've never used any other radio, nor do I have any desire too because I love my eclipse 7! :) I'm sure some 7C users here will chime in. From what I understand, the 7C/9C are every bit as capable and good radios. It just comes down to personal opinion and what feels "right" in your hands. The best way to decide on a radio is to hold it and see :).

I have an Eclipse 7 that I use for my heli's and an older Futaba Super 8U that I use for airplanes.

The Eclipse is a much better helicopter radio because the heli modes are much easier to program than with the Futaba. The Futaba on the other hand is fine and easy to program for planks.

Also the throttle hold on the Eclipse uses a button on the bottom of the radio while the Futaba uses a switch that requires programming. Throttle hold is a very important safety feature and the Hitec has the better system for that.

I highly recommend the Hitec radio for your heli's.

Flight cond. 4 is also used as throttle hold if you prefer the switch rather than the button, you can program it to set the engine idle anywhere you like. I believe it's the switch on the top right.

Oops, I just realized I guess you were referring to throttle lock, and not throttle cut. Nevermind me.. :)
