The first thing you should do is head on down to the local flying field and see what the people you will be asking for help are flying.

Barring that the best all around beginner ship is the Raptor. Parts and help are every where and they are very popular, they fly from mild to 3d out of the box depending on setup and http://www.raptortechnique.com has step by step build and setup.

The Venture is ok but its rotor head design leaves something to be desired and they develop slop quickly. This can be fixed with some parts from one of the larger ones but why buy twice.

There's other options, on the higher end the Hirobo EVO are a little nicer but setup is a little harder and they are more expensive.

On the other end are the Venture and Caliber but neither are as nice or fly as well as a Raptor.

Yea, I saw that, looks like you got the same answer over on RCGroups.

I started out in the early days and then got out for a bit and when I got started back I bought a Nexus against the one persons advice I asked. It flew ok and it was fine for hovering and basic flight but I out grew it pretty fast. Then I got on here and started doing some reading. For the last couple years I have been flying a Raptor 50 and couldn't be happier with it, its got hours and hours on it and it just keeps going and with normal maintenence I have very little trouble with it. I've since picked up a Hirobo EVO 50 and its even a little nicer with push pull and all but at the end of the day, most weekends the ship with the most fuel through it is the Raptor.

Do yourself a favor, check out heliproz.com get either a Raptor 30 with an OS37 or a 50 with a hyper and go fly. It will grow with you as you progress, they have very few problems and a metric ton of information on them on the net. Everyone and their uncle sells or makes parts for them too.
