hi guys..... my 3 month old starter seems to have given up on me.... its stalls when under load, and just worked on my heli the other day, but didnt work on the plane....

what i need is a new one... a good one, but not loads... my current one is a ripmax turbex 2 which was like £20...

i just want to know which ones you guys use.... i dont care who uses drills sorry, as it wont start my plane..

ive been looking at the sullivan high torque for £42... i dunno if you can get them in the usa, or if anyone from the uk knows anything, but anyone know if its good??

any other reccomendations?? thanks

The Sullivan Dynatron does a very good job, especially if you are using two six-cell battery packs for power. I have a Hobbico Torquemaster 180 on a 12 volt battery and while it starts my YS-91, it will not turn it if it is slightly flooded and has a tough time with the OS-91 heli engine.

im running a 37 in the heli and a 46 in the plane, so i dont need something as big as the dynatron as well as it being a lot of money... hence why im thinking about the cheaper sullivan...

i run a 12v 7amp battery in my flight box.. doy uo think i should run some 6 cell packs instead? or would my power panel not work with these?

I had a similar one to the heli max for a nitro truck. It would roll the motor ok but burned out after about twenty starts. If your engine does not start right away I dont think this is the starter for you. I have the Tower Hobbies one listed at this link. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXL396&P=ML It starts my hyper 50 easily and does not over heat if it is being fussy

what battery is recommended for this starter? some 12V dry like motorcycle battery, but what size?

how do you propose to start a plane with a spinner using a drill which would need a rubber starter cone

also, i run a fuel pump, glow driver and charge through my power panel, so there is no need in spending extra on a drill... hence why i didnt really want to know about drill

I have used this battery to start countless planes for over 4 years. The biggest engine I have is a Moki 1.8, I use a bigger starter but the battery is strong enough.

i use a variant of these 12v 7A batteries in my flight box, and it powers everything for a long time...

anyway...... i bought the same starter that i had, as it was very good untill ir randomly stopped working properly...

Have you tried to check for all the regular problems? Like the switch and the power panel it self?

the power panel is like brand new, and my new starter works, so its not that...

i dont think its the switch, as it gets power, just stalls easily..

i tryed starting my plne with both of them on the same battery...

the new one span it over nicely, the old one struggles and stalled when it hit tdc.....

I would recommened the Sullivan Dynatron starter. It's the absolute best starter for your heli and can handle up to 24V. I've been using one for the past few months and it's absolutely great.
