Cant decide

Okay just trying to decide on what engine to put in my restored concept 30. I got both engines in a trade no idea about how old either is. One is an OS 32 looks like the older style with square head. The second is an Irvine 36, with a purple head and purple Carb if that helps. If anyone knows anything about this irvine let me know. I want the more powerfull of the 2 and reliable to put in this heli thanks

heres a link to the Irvine heli engine http://www.justengines.unseen.org/irvine.htm
its the 36 F1 on this page

I'd not purchase other than OS, but if i somehow got another engine (like the Toki .40 i have in my bord) as a gift or something, i'd try and/or use it. He has both, try both, pick which one runs better.

You should feel the compression of them both and see which one of them is tighter. For my money I would go with the OS32. I had one in my Concept and it went like a bat out of hell.

thats about useless for determining power output. an ABC engine will have allot of 'pinch' at TDC compared to a ringed engine but may never produce the same power. I've also got an old Super Tigre .45 that when dead stick has so little compression that the prop spins constantly due to the wind over it but it's by and far the most powerful .45 I've ever owned.

OS32. I would say that the OS 32 is the most reliable helicopter engine out there. Maybe I'm wrong though.

RE: Cant decide

I just sold a Shuttle that I purchased in 1991 with the stock Enya 35. I do not know how many gallons of fuel I put through it but it was still running strong. I am not a 3D hotdog, just basic aerobatics and scale type flying so I always ran her rich. That was one of the most reliable engines I have ever owned, next to my original Super Tigre/ como 40H in my Mini-Boy. I still have this engine running strong in a GoBee 40.
