quick question.....

Very general question here....

I am selling a heli and am looking to see if anyone would be able to tell me what the shipping charges they have experienced are. It's a 40 size with engine and it's together so it's not in pieces where the box can be small.

I tried to estimate and went to fed ex and they gave me a price of like $96!!! I don't get that, or maybe fed ex is just expensive like that.

Also, what is the best packaging method...Should i take the blades off?

Any insight on this is very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Fas

I just shipped a Raptor 90 and it cost $63 bucks (Canadian) and it was only going around 1000 miles. I took the blades and tail boom off so the box would be a little smaller, but it still wound up being a pretty big box. The box weighed around 23 pounds. How far is it going, $96 bucks (USD) sounds a little expensive to me.

Any box over 4 feet gets exhorbidant. Try using Greyhound, slow, safe, cheap.

On a side note, if you're shipping out of the country, DON'T USE FED EX or UPS! Or atleast make sure your buyer knows you're shipping Fed EX or UPS if they live outside your country. They might be fast, but they charge rediculous ammounts in brokerage fees for packages entering the destination country because some guy has to fill out some papers.

They're fine for in-country though.

Thanks guys. i think i figured out the whole "shipping" system. It seems that if you DON't take the boom off and the box is LONG, it comes to $96.00. But when i shorten take the boom off and shorten the box it comes down around 40.00. I just bought a box and some bubble wrap for about 13.00 and charged $50 for shipping so i am good to go. The over 4 feet thing is totally true. get it under 4 feet and they don't kill you with the shipping!

Now i just need to get the boom off and carefully get everything into the box.

Thanks all for the input and advice!

Mike
