Balancing Heli
 

Hi
I have a robbe cuatro which needed 3/4lb of lead in the nose to balance on the shaft.Can anyone tell me if this is OK? normal? or a problem? I can't move the battery any further forward. It flies fine but am I missing something? Please help.

You might try shortening the tail!!!!!!!!! Ha Ha!

But seriously, that's alot of weight!! Expecially for an electric. Although, you say it flies fine. With the swashplate level with the main shaft, left, right, forward and back, blades straight or even removed, holding by the paddle bar add clay to the nose until the skids are level or what you want for level. This is the amount of weight you'll need.

Wow, that sounds like a awful lot of weight. I'm not familiar with that heli but there must be another solution. The last thing you want to do is add weight to your heli. Is there any way to take a picture of it with the canopy off so we can see your setup?

I agree with these guys. That is too much weight to add. There must be some other solution. If you can post some pics of your setup and the way that you are measuring it somebody might be able to help you out.

Maybe the battery is too light or the wrong one.

To give you some idea of the size. The cuatro is a 90 FIA Heli with 800mm blades.It can be changed to petrol with a zenoa 23cc.This is a large heli and is often used as a camera platform. Thre balance was checked by suspending the heli from the blade grips at 90 degees to the tail boom

Well that's a whole different ballgame. It wouldn't hurt to possibly get bigger batteries (more ampere) and kind of chew up some of that balancing. besides you can never have to much battery. Then whatever is left over then add weight. Of course 3/4 lbs. to that bird will make little difference. I just hate adding weight, I like to find other useful ways of adding weight, possibly two battery packs. Weights sometime tend to come loose.

have you just tried flying it without the weight? allot of gassers come in a bit tail heavy because of the way the engine mounts, especially if they have a pull start on them too. most fly perfectly without the necessity of additional ballast and none of them need the extra weight unnecessarily.
