Problems with Throttle Curve !!
 

Any recommendations !!!

My JR ergo 30 SS with a webra 32 ringed engine has the following settings,

Throttle Curve:
L-0
1-40%
2-70%
3-85%
4-100%

My pitch is set from -2 to 9 , with 4.5 to 4.8 at mid stick , close to JR's recommendations,

The issue here is that I feel that the mid stick throttle curve setting is too high at 70 % , anything lower then 65% , I battle to lift off the ground , JR's recommend mid stick is 50% throttle , How can I achieve a 50% throttle setting at mid stick to hover / lift off the ground,
I am still using my training gear / pods , is this the reason that I need to have a higher throttle , to overcome the extra weight ?

Will a tunned pipe help ??
Needle settings ??
Get an OS 32 engine ?

I usually leave my "normal" throttle curve linear ... while the pitch range goes from -2 to 9 ... I can hover at 3/4 (maybe a little less, but above 1/2) of the throttle stick.

Regarding needle settings, I don't know ... there are just toooo many variables so you're on your own here. FYI, I have 1 turn open in my OS 91 and about 5/4 in my OS 50.

The training gear is probably playing an important factor in your setup ... chances are when you remove it, your heli will shoot up towards the sky (or at least I hope it does :D )

I wouldn't get a tuned pipe if I where you ... getting the main needle can already be a problem and adding a tuned pipe will just increase complexity. Besides, if you get one, you will have to tune it with the training gear on and off.

If you think power is an issue, try a higher nitro fuel.

First thing I would do is give it more pitch a 1/2 stick. 4.8 sounds a little low to me. I would try about 5 or 5 1/2. Then you should be able to drop your throttle curve back around 50% at 1/2 stick. The way you have it setup now, It must be screaming at 1/2 stick? Do you have a tack for checking you head speed? If not you should buy/borrow one, it can save you alot of work. Maybe find someone to help you set it up.

Yes , you are right it does definitley howls at 1/5 stick , I set my pitch last last according to the JR manual that came with the heli , it recoomends 5 at mid stick ,

I will give it a go tomorrow or on saturday , the extremely high rev's at hover could be the reason why my engine was overheating and caused my muffler to rip / tear from the welds.

If it is a new motor, you want to run it rich(very rich). You don't want to over heat your motor, thats not good for them. You should try and find someone to help you set it up, It will save you alot of headaches. Have a look here and see if anyone lives around you that flies helis, I'm sure they would help.
