Swept tip Vs. Square Tip blades, performance?
 

What differences are there with Swept Tip Blades Vs. the reg square tip?

I would assume that since you have less blade area at the tip, that rpms would pick-up a tad.

What are the benefits/differences?

I doubt that any one could or would notice and difference. The tip and wash-out in blades really mean a lot to a FAI pilot than a 3-D pilot. The airfoil ,CG and weight have much more influence on performance. I believe that tip design would mainly affect the auto characteristics than aerobatic. I know that one of the reasons that V-blades went from swept to square for safety.

I work on a full size helo that has swept blade tips, or to give them their proper name BERP tips. Their job is very simply to reduce noise and increase fuel economy by reducing compressability on the advancing blade. Some more effects of BERP tips are reduced tip stall and a produce more stable vortex at the tip. Since all this significantly increases the flight envelope of the blade I would have thought this would affect the aerobatic performance of any helo full size or otherwise. The by product of all this on our EH101's is increased fuel economy and a quieter helo.
