I am sure you could but I would worry about distortion. I used to dye my canopies on planes to get a shaded look with the thin clear plane canopies. But even though I think it would be possible would would have a low lustre color. I would go with automotive paints and use the correct plastic prep. A lot of the guys who do this professionally have some great help pages on the proper steps to go through to get your paint to properly adhere and not peel on flexible canopies..
GL-Hope this helps

Well kick that idea, Thanks man I thought it might work I have Dye'd 100's of car wheels over the year's, I figured it was worth a shot........I shot down the paint idea because of the flexable plastic, What is a good flexable paint ? THX......

I did my canopy on my DX with Parma faskolor paint for lexan car bodies and other surfaces its a water base flexible paint and than covered it with Spaz- Stix Holographic paint which is fuel proof you can see the pictures of the canopy and tail fins in my photo gallery if you look real close it appears that the paint is fuzzy but it's not its the holographic paint it has color changing sparkles in it that appear and disappear depending on the light and the angle you look at it a really sharp looking paint I've done many cars with it and in the sunlight it's really neat I've cleaned it with window cleaner for about 3 weeks now and it doesn't come off

I just did mine in RIT navy blue with a hint of black (first attempt) and then red (2nd ws) ... both turned out great, although the blue turned out a bit hazy (IMO). Red one took a while to get right; had to re-heat the dye several times. The one thing to remember is not to get the mix hotter than 160 F, otherwise you'll deform it and then have to waste time trying to "form" it back. I used a metal clothes hangar and shaped it to fit the outline of the canopy, which helped keep it's shape better.
