9CAP Ghost
I was flying my raptor titan yesterday (1 Jan 07) and when I hit the idle up the altitude changed quite dramatically. It seemed to work fine in idle once I increased the collective. I landed when the ice rain started. I checked my radio and all the throttle and curves were where they were supposed to be. The pitch curve in normal mode was curved up off the center line even though all the numbers should have indicated a straight line. I was somewhat mystified by this until I got looking further in the menu's when I found the throttle and pitch curve knob adjustment had been swith to on and the knob was turned off center.. I put it back to "inh" and all is well again. I did not activate this and I asked my boy if he had been playing with my radio and he said no. Has anyone else experienced the 9CAP changing settings on it's own.

RE: 9CAP Ghost
No, someone had to change it or it was like that all along and you never noticed since the knob was at zero.....

RE: 9CAP Ghost
I must have done it when I was on the sim and thinking I was in the sim profile and I wasn't. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. LOL

RE: 9CAP Ghost
That said Ifind it a good idea to check all surface throws before every flight and do a range check before the first fight of the day when I fly. It has saved more than one aircraft. Either I changed something and didn't remember or something went bad like a base loaded antennae that work the last time I flew but went bad over the winter....

RE: 9CAP Ghost
HOV-PIT and HOV-THR default to on unfortunately. Atleast in the 9cSuper REVO defaults to off but then you have to go turn off the High/Low pitch or the sliders on the side mess up the pitch settings.

I am using the 9C super. I had checked the HOV-pit and HOV-Thr sometime ago and they were off. I had some experience with this when I was flying my Blade CP with the 9CAP, I decide to check one day and make sure, because I know what kind of trouble it can cause. I did the same with the side sliders. I learned all this when I got my setup screwed up by changing things in the setup before I realized that one of the sliders had been moved in transport. It was actually happened when I was coming back from the Great Hobbies heli school in PEI, got home with new found knowledge and my heli wouldn't work right. LOL I finally figured it out after some trial and error and the price of a set of blades. evam-RCU I do a range check and watch the control surfaces before I put my Raptor in the air, but I don't put it in idle up and check that. I probably wouldn't have notice this anyway because the change was so small. After saying all that I will be even more diligent about equipment check before I put my heli in the air. Colin Bell setup my radio and my heli so I'm sure things were the way they were supposed to be. I am very fortunate to have a talented pilot and a master techician in Stephen to call on when I need some help, but I don't like to bother them too much. Thanks Randy |
