Spectrum DX7

I picked up a new mode 2 DX7 today but when I took it out the box, I discovered it had an anoying rattle inside that I know is gonna bug me. (Don't think its from the battery compartment)

Can't ask the guys in the shop till after Easter, too nervous to pull it apart so soon and I want to play with it now. Anyone one else had a similar problem or is it a dud?? [>:]

You should be ok with taking the 6 screws out of the back and gently pulling the back cover off to look for anything loose. The manual even says you can, and you should, to adjust the tension of the sticks to your liking. This is not going to affect the warranty as long as you dont go crazy on it. But i would definitly take it apart just to have a look - BEFORE YOU TURN IT ON!!!! If its just a screw that came loose, you dont want it rolling on the circuit board when you turn it on. And for giggles, go ahead and check the battery compartment before taking it apart. Its easier to take the batt. cover off than taking 6 screws out. I have a DX7 and there is no rattling, just a really soft buzz from the speaker, barely noticable, and it works flawlessly.

I'm a newbie, the manual looked scary and confusing so I hid it back in its box for now. Took ure advise and double checked battery compartment and then removed the rear cover. Definitely something loose but can't pinpoint exactly where, so its back to the shop for the guru's to sort out. Oops! I'd already turned it on before I noticed the noise and it didn't go bang so thats a bonus!!!!! [>:]

Does your throttle stick ratchet/click when you move it? I wonder if your ratchet came out or was just in a clip inside. Since you're in the heli forum, I'm assuming you bought the heli version, which should not ratchet, the throttle movement should be smooth. So, I'm wondering if the ratchet was secured inside in case you wanted it later for airplane use and it just came out of whatever little clip they had it store in.

The DX7 you have is a Airplane version, you need to exchange it for the heli version.

The heli version doesn't come with a ratchet.

Its definitely the mode 2 heli version ( smooth throttle )- been holding out since christmas for this version and it only arrived in the shop last week. Hasn't stopped me practising on the sim though - this is so much FUN!!! Would have spent a fortune in repairs by now :)
