The subject comes up every now and then, and it has been done. The Nexus Legatto was a 4 stroke designed around the OS52FSH I think it was. It needed 30 percent fuel and you had to fly it on the ragged edge of burning up the motor to get enough power out of it and it would still barely get out of its own way. Min Air designed an X-Cell 4 stroke that flew pretty well from what I understand.

The problem is the gearing would have to be designed with a 4 stroke in mind because they produce their power in a much lower rpm range than the two strokes. Also they only produce power every two cycles of the piston so the engine is alot heavier relative to the power it puts out. Over come those basic design issues and it would sound cool but performance would be underwhelming.

Century had one too... They overheat and don't have the power.. that was then and they should try again.... I wouldn't buy one... with electrics coming on strong why would anyone?

I know about the gearing but the newer 4 strokes have a lot more power than the older 4 strokes, and the 2 stroke noise is a little on the ears to fly in my backyard all the time (upsets the fokes) Just thinking of using a Satio as the noise is not the high pitch as a 2 stroker.

you can also get a vario 4stroke . ive got a sky fox with a 91 os 4 stroke.but i took the engine out after a short time..

i have to say i was/am very disapionted with it..it had trouble just to hover without overheating and i had to foreget about fast forward flight. i changed the lenth of the blades too going from long to the shortes i could use on it but it was always underpowered ..

another flyer on this forum though said that i might have better results if i had changed the type of exhaust i was supplied with it..

admittidly i didnt use it with 30% nitro,, think i used 10 %.

The noise issue is a red herring.

I had a Nexus Legato, it is exactly 0% quieter than my current Raptor with a TT46 in it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is a 4-Stroke: http://www.bergenrc.com/Twin.php

And I can say (as indicated above) after several flights with one that they are every bit as obnoxious. My vote for a REX 600! :)
