Clear Coat
So I folowed both ArizonaHeli and Canopy FX's painting intructions and they generaly worked out well I believe. My question is, using auto paints, what type of clear coat should I use? The kind you get at the hobbie store (pactra aero gloss clear) or auto clear. As there instructions indicate they say to use the kind you dont get in a spray can. If any one could clarifie this that would be very nice. Thanks

You have to use a 2 stage clear. This means you have to add a catalyst to the clear to aid in the hardening process. The 2 and 3 stage clears harden up better than any clear you get in a spray can. It is the smae principal as epoxy. The 2 parts are a liquid or gel until they are mixed, once mixed they turn into a rock. This is why you need a 2 stage clear. You can do a couple of things. If you can spray clear yourself go buy a quart at your local auto paint store. Innate.com also sells small quantities. You can not spray a good clear with an air brush!! Or you can send it to me for a few bucks and I can clear it. Or you can go to your local body shop with a 6 pack of old Milwaukee and ask them to shoot it. The last one works better with Heineken.

Joe, you say, You can not spray a good clear with an air brush!! Why not? I've sprayed CC Laquer with my Badger 360 plenty of times. Do you mean the automotive CC? If so why not. Just interested because I'm going to paint my first heli, with automotive paint. I've been painting scale models for years, but never a RC Heli.
