comparing gyros
I am converting my AXE CP to have a HH gyro. I was wanting to know opions of the e-flite G90 -vs- the Futaba gy240 gyros. The G90 is only 9 grams vs the 25 gram Futaba. I love the GY401 I have in my Raptor but I have no experience with the two models I am concidering for the Axe.
thanks for the input! |
RE: comparing gyros
From my experience with the E-Flite helicopters (though not the G90 gyro), I would default to the 240. I've seen one used, and it works pretty well. I wouldn't get to caught up with the weight. For my money, however, I'd get the Logitech 2100t
http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=138380 I've got one on my TREX 450SE, and I'm very pleased with it, but it takes a little bit of setting up the first time. Just my $.02, - Chaz |
RE: comparing gyros
The align 500x is exactly the same gyro as the telebee HH gyro, except the telebee one is about $20 cheaper, depending on where you get it from.

RE: comparing gyros
Personally, I don't rate the Futaba GY240
You could also look for the CSM gyros. http://www.rcmodels.org/csm/ |
RE: comparing gyros
I'd probably second the lt2100 if you don't want to go for the gy401. The benifit the g90 has over the gy240 is that it has remote gyro gain, but I don't think the axe has 6 channels, so I don't know if you would use that anyways.
The gy240 is probably over all a bit better quality than the g90, but I would still go with the lt2100. Most reviews I've read of it compare it pretty equally to the gy401 on electric models, and you can get it for about $100 shipped, and it only weighs like 11g I think |
RE: comparing gyros
A 16 gram weight difference is significant for a small heli.

RE: comparing gyros
Fair enough, but I've never heard anyone say, "My gosh! I switched from the 401 to the 2100 and I cannot believe how much more agile the heli is). :)

RE: comparing gyros
Thanks for the input. I think I am going to try the e-flite G90. There wasn't much comment about them in this post so I can gather they haven't been used much. They have the remote gain adjustment, they're light, inexpensive, and head holding. I will follow up when the conversion is complete and let you know my opinion. I have all the other components from scraped planes. :)
