here are two centrifugal clutch used in rc world. What are their technical names ? or r they called centrifugal clutches even though they have different design of opperation.

MMM well the only real difference i suppose is you can replace the clutch shoes in one of them. But as the clutch liner wears down on the other one the tangs have to spread out further and can break off also when a new liner is installed the tangs can not be repostioned to give you the clutch gap needed so it doesnt engage at idle. So i suppose the shoe type is cheaper and easyer to maintain...:D

Yes.

The one on the left pits centrifugal force against a spring and the one on the right pits centrifugal force against the tension of the metal. Either way, centrifugal force causes a inner part to move outwards, increasing the radius, till it makes friction contact with something else to make it move once the rpm is sufficient to generate enough CF.
