Funny RC Engine Test Stand Fail gone viral on Internet
Could have been tragic... Despite that, I laughed almost uncontrollably at the end!

Unless we laugh openly at these idiots, they will keep on doing it.
An abject lesson in what not to do.
Your right, that was obvious what was going to happen before he even picked up the starter.
So direct anyone new to the hobby to see this so they know what could happen.
Idiots can buy motors too, unfortunately.

Amazing!!! No blood when he walked by after it jumped at him !! That prop could go really deep in the area it was headed ! No matter how much we preach, no matter how much we scorn, there'll be idiots out there to do that kinda stuff.

Made me laugh ... but in a kinda "My God" sort of way.
The prospect of that flailing APC is fairly terrifying.
It leapt off that test-stand like a wild animal.

Jeez, I wonder how well the plane is built?
The funniest part (sic) is when he rotates the starter backwards after failing to turn the motor over with the piston on the compression stroke. [&o]
My test stand is a 100Lbs cut off piece of a floor beam from a house. So far nothing has moved it that I have bolted to it!

If I did that I'm not sure I would have put it on Youtube.
Cuts? What cuts? Oh, those cuts. Those are from when I got in a fight with that bobcat.

This video clipreminds me of a few years ago inCornwall, UK.One ofour fellow clubmates was a police officer, very keen on flying. He told me that some yearsbefore, heput hisplane on the workbench inhis garage and started it. The transmitter was on the opposite bench. He started it on idle but as he turned around to get thetransmitter, the cat run over the Tx and it went to full throttle. Hearing the enginespeed going up, he turned back to face the plane - just in time to see it coming off the workbench straight at him, he had time to cover his family jewels but the prop nearly sliced his thumb completely off his hand and he was bleeding profusely. He ran outside to get help, a neighbour took him to hospital where he was admitted. His wife came home, not knowing anything, saw a lot of blood in the garage and thought he was attacked (being a policeman) and raised alarm, the police startedsearching for the missing officer. Only later somebody thought of checking with the hospital and found him there. When he was discharged a few days later, got hometo discover his wife have put his plane and gear in the dust bin. Only many years later he was allowed to get a plane again - where he joined us to start flying again.

I've been in the modeling hobby since I was about fourteen years old. Started with an Ohlsson .23 and a solid trainer. Years later, I was stationed in Japan and heard what I thought was model airplane engines. It turned out to be a bunch of guys with two-stroke go-karts. One man was bent over a McCulloch engine that was running, apparently tuning the carb. He opened the throttle completely and the engine wound up with no load on it. It screamed for about 5 or 10 seconds and all of a sudden, things got real quiet. The flywheel had exploded. This guy was the luckiest man I have ever seen. Every piece missed him. He learned the hard way that a two-stroke engine with no load on it will just wind up until something breaks. Our model engines will do the same thing without a prop or flywheel. Unfortunately, the prop can do a lot of damage if you're standing in front of it when the mounting restraint lets go. I realize I'm probably preaching to the choir, but there are a lot of youngsters out there that need to be aware of this sort of situation.
Fly safely, guys.

Scary, not smart, but i had to laugh a little. Nothin is more funny, IMO, as the video where the guy forgot to put the jesus bolt on his heli or the incredible heli tree trimming machine.
