Repair man charges $75 per hour to fix damage done by my clumsy thumbs. Tried to uninstall Windows XP and ruined the whole bloody thing. It's been in the shop for a week and just got it back today for $175. If you haven't checked lately that's a new engine or a brushless motor. Problem is I need it to order airplane stuff that's now hard to afford. D**n computer.

Wow, $175 for an XP install??? That's highway robbery. I just charged a guy less than $100, and I backed all his stuff up, had to go on a driver search, and set everything back up when I was done.

RE: Darn Computer

It wasn't just the XP install. I lost the D:\ drive and a lot of other stuff. I just figure that one more repair bill and it goes to the High School electronics class for parctice.

In response to MasterSmasher:

If you would've read my above post, you would see there is more to it than that. Backing up email, addresses, favorites, My Documents, etc., then putting it all back and reconfiguring everything. Takes a bit more than knowing how to read.

You gonna feed your whole family with that candy bar?

He just needs to grab the mixture and shut it off and then open it back up to restore,,,,(at 200 ft[&o]) :D

RE: Darn Computer

Fine, so it is a little more work, I'll do it once I get off school for a King size candy bar if you have the CD and CD Key.

With an attitude like that, you will be eaten for lunch by every client you retain. Banks don't take candy bars for collateral, even the big candy bars. :) Why do you have two RCU usernames?

I would do it for a good .40 2 stroke...

even a bad 40 would be nice

Even an [:'(]LA[:'(]? That would be DESPERATE for an engine.;)

I HATE my LA[:@]. ( first engine in 30 years that I have said that about.)

Pilotsmoe 05-05-2004 11:34 PM

RE: Darn Computer

no, I don't like the LA series either

RE: Darn Computer

What is so bad about them, I am looking at getting a 15 for my SSC combat plane. I know they don't have as much power, but those things are durable! Don't ask.

FHHuber 05-06-2004 12:35 AM

RE: Darn Computer

Well... the needle valve is not durrable. And its expensive. (so I got a Tower Needle at less than 1/2 the cost and the Tower remote needle IS durrable.)

And the backplate is not durrable... All too easy to tighten the backplate screws and snap the backplate screw holes off. (using light pressure and a jeweler's screwdriver...)

I finally got the hunk of junk to turn over 5K rpm (I have the .46) when I went to a 10X4 and 20% nitro. Now that its acting like its broken in... (2.5 gallons through it... I did give it a chance...) it still refuses to turn a 11X4 (which my O.S. .25 SF, older than dirt and more than 35 gallons through it.... can turn 11K) over 9K.

The .40 FP has more power.
The Old tower .40 bushing bearing version has more power.
A Magnum .40 GP has more power.

(and we are comparing these .40's to a .46!)

My old .25 has more power! I tink the LA.46 makes a good .19.[:'(]
