Based on various mfrs recommendations, I'd say that a tailpipe to bellmouth gap of 25-30 mm (1-1.2") is about right for 120-160 sized motors in a non-fully-bypassed installation.

Next question if the fuse is getting hot .. how does the space between the inner + outer pipe (and the space outside the pipe) get air? That airflow has to come from somewhere, and it is important for cooling.

I've had to open up some "NACA-like" openings in the belly of a few jets to deliberately get a source of cool air to draw in. Are there air sources other than the turbine inlet?
