RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Looking at the equipment installation pictures, it looks like no one is using power supplies...just plugging 10 servos directly in the receiver. That could be a lot of amps being pulled directly through the receiver. Anyone having any issues with that?
Also is it recommended to put the nose gear on a Y to the rudder or make a mix with a switch so that the nose gear steering is disabled when retracted.
Can some one post a picture of that small contraption that is to be installed on the nose gear to keep is straight when retracted, or can I just eliminate it.

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
There is no power box needed for this airplane it is a very low draw system if you installed the sugested servos you will only draw 120mah per flight. As for the Anti-Rotation pin please look at the pictures below for some clarification.

Awesome Henry! I'll do it right away as I have a meet in Princeton, BC I want to make in three weeks. If all goes well and I'm up there I'll definitely pass on the word of the awesome customer service! :-)

Jaime I'm glad everything went well. As for the gear that is a problem that we discovered after wards and has been fixed. Anybody who bought older gear we warranty it 100% all you have to do is call bill at spring air and send him the older gear and he will make the fix or replace the gear so it never fails.

I seem to have overlooked this post and had already sent you and email. I will send you another email regarding sending the older gear back as it will cost me a fortune to send things to the States.

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Henry,
Sent my gen 1 main gear struts back to Bill at Springair for replacement. Spoke to him and he said no problem on replacing or fixing them;-) He said as soon as he receives my old ones, he'll ship out the new ones. Now that is good customer service! BTW, the plane flies really nice:-)...

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Got the maiden and 3 additional flights in on the Tornado today. I must honestly say I'm impressed and the few little things along the way that bugged me about the jet all disappeared from my mind after the first flight. absolutely a dream to fly, tracks on rails. with the Tropical Depression THIRTEEN blowing in we've got 10-15 knot winds with 20+ gusts but not so much as even a bobble in the air. landings are automatic, with the flaps dropped she slowed down to a crawl, lands on the mains and holds the nose for a 15' roll out and then drops the nose and stops without the use of brakes, it lands that slow.
the only issue i had was a flame out due to slinging the clunk to the front of the tank on the third flight while mixing the sticks up a bit, i felt the long clunk might be an issue when i assembled the tank but at that time i didn't have any brass tubing to add in the middle during assembly or i would have as i knew the length was going to cause that very problem. the flame out was a no brainer, she floated like a feather and there were no issues at all with the dead stick landing.
weather is supposed to hold off till at least Sunday so should have many more flights in before the weekend is up.

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
I just ordered one from Henry, I was impressed that he remembered me and the special request I had from an email and phone call earlier this week. Thanks Henry and continue to do great things with the projects we talked about!

Congrats on the maiden. I too maidened my Tornado last week and the flying was successful enough that I got my turbine waiver too;-)
Your report is consistent with what I saw. Once set up, she flies real nice...
Cheers,

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
4 more flights today with 20mph winds which proved to not be a problem at all, the Tornado did an awesome job of handling it.
i've had a few people ask me about transportation of the jet assembled, i've got an F-150 SCC w/ 6.5' bed and it just does fit sitting corner to corner, all other items i put in the back seat area.

KC nice to see someone with experience flying one of these gives a little credence to the comments that went before, thanks for the report, now all we need is someone who has both to compare the Tornado too the Falcon 120 and the circle would be complete.

Mike,
i don't now, nor have i owned a falcon, but flown several, two of which were turbine conversions, they aren't even in the same ballpark. the tornado flies a great deal better all around, and inside ground effect it's completely different handling.

you're kidding right????? Hell no you can't use an easy connector, solder the clevis on the opposite end after you cut them to length.
